A Consultation I Received a Response $$$$

Fens Reservoir Project: Upcoming survey works.

We are writing to provide an update on our proposals for a new reservoir in the Fens.
Our consultation closed on 21 December 2022 after running for 10 weeks.

Thank you to everyone for providing feedback on our proposals. We have received a great deal of useful and informative feedback, and we will now be analysing this so that we can further develop our proposals.

So everyone can see the key themes and issues from the consultation, once we have completed analysis of the feedback provided we will prepare and publish a summary of the feedback on our website.
In order to further our understanding of the site of the proposed reservoir, we will also soon be starting some survey work in the area. Our contractors will need to access various parts of the site of the proposed reservoir land in order to undertake this work, and this will of course only ever take place with the permission of the landowners.

Anglian Water and Cambridge Water do not yet have planning consent to begin construction of the reservoir – this will be applied for in 2025 following a second round of consultation. These surveys will be used to further develop our proposals and expand our knowledge of the landscape.
We are actively engaging with national bodies such as Natural England and the Environment Agency and the relevant local authorities to keep them informed about our proposals and any potential impacts on protected sites. We will continue to consult with these organisations throughout the process, including keeping them informed about the outcome of our surveys. Dialogue with affected landowners and residents who live on the site is also ongoing.
Our onsite operatives will also be equipped with contact cards to ensure that any queries are directed to the team.

Please feel free to email us if you have any questions or queries.
Kind regards,
Fens Reservoir Project Team

Anglian Water and Cambridge Water are proposing a new reservoir in the Fens that will secure water supply to our customers for future generations.

Oh No – Not Another Consultation – Who Is Taking Any Notice?

This is just one of three I have received this week, I have read in depth all three and it took 2+ hours of my very valuable time, on filling is the various questionaires, I alway think that little notice is taken, however when I challenged the Chair of the PCC – he did say that responses were taken into account.

This one takes some digesting – but has an effect on our area as a whole.

Helping Older People ‘Feel Brighter’ again with NHS Talking Therapies

Are you 65 or older and feel like life is less colourful than it used to be? If you haven’t been feeling yourself, don’t suffer in silence.

‘Feel Brighter’ is a new NHS campaign that aims to reach out to older people aged 65 and over, who may be struggling with their mental health but don’t know where to turn for advice, support and to find out what services are available locally.

The new campaign aims to encourage older people who have symptoms such as anxiety, loneliness, or low mood to reach out and access free NHS Talking Therapies and other support to help them feel brighter again.

NHS Talking Therapies are effective treatments that involve speaking with an experienced mental health professional to understand feelings and learn ways to manage them. Sessions are totally confidential and can be one-to-one, in a group, online, or over the phone.

Farewell Pearl

My friends and I bid a fond farewell to Pearl (Burdock) who passed away 14th January aged 82. Pearl lived off Eastrea Road and became a good supporter of Whittlesey Street Pride, she ‘looked after’ the Gateway boat on Guildenburgh Crescent.

The funeral service was held at St Jude’s Roman Catholic Church , Whittlesey on Wednesday 8th February 2023.

I enjoyed a few cups of tea with Pearl – RIP (RG)
