🚔 Drug use and dealing across March, Whittlesey and Chatteris 🚔 The team have carried out a mixture of high-viz and plain-clothed patrols in known hotspot areas which has helped us to build intelligence. From this and the support of reports from the community we were able to execute five drug warrants where both class A and B drugs were found, along with cash and weapons. Five people remain under investigation for drug offences. In addition to the warrants, 33 people have been stop-searched across the sector by the team, as well as several vehicles. More than 50 percent of these searches led to items being seized or the person reported or arrested – five people remain under investigation for possession with intent to supply drugs. Lots of intelligence has been gathered and we’ve got activity planned for the coming months. 🚔 Illegal parking in Whittlesey 🚔 More than 80 fixed penalty notices (FPNs) have been issued in Whittlesey for illegal/obstructive parking, with the most prominent locations being Market Street, Queen Street, Broad Street, High Causeway and St Mary’s Street. 🚔 Speeding in rural parishes (Benwick, Eastrea, Coates, Turves, Wimblington, Doddington, Manea) 🚔 We have covered an array of areas and spent approximately 40 hours doing speed checks with support from our Special Constabulary on occasions. Approximately 100 drivers have been stopped and spoken with, some having been given words of advice where they were only just over the speed limit, but others issued Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) where their speed was far above the limit. The main location we found speeding motorists was on the A605 stretch between Whittlesey and Coates. To see what we’ve set for the next three months, head over to our website here. Don’t forget, you can have your say on what we set as our priorities any time. |
RG Note, one – yes one shopkeeper contacted the area inspector to complain about the ‘robust’ parking enforcement – that shop keeper regularly breaks the law by parking his vehicle(s) on Market Street in non compliance to the regulations?
Joined this evening by Mayor of Whittlesey Cllr Kay Mayor.
