E-Cops News – Drug Busts Over Cambridgeshire

A major county lines police operation has resulted in 51 arrests and 35 individuals charged with more than 100 offences, striking a significant blow to organised drug crime

The crackdown, led by Cambridgeshire Constabulary, targeted drug supply networks across the county exploiting vulnerable people who traffic and distribute illegal substances.

Over the course of Operation Hypernova, which took place last month (March), officers carried out more than 30 dawn raids across Cambridge, Peterborough, Ramsey, Cambourne, Ely, Longstanton and St Ives, as well as out of county in London, Grimsby, Leicester, Newmarket, Spalding and Lincoln.

It followed weeks of intelligence gathering into those bringing class A drugs into Cambridgeshire and resulted in shutting down 50 active drug lines and seizing an estimated £55k of illegal drugs including cocaine, cannabis, crack cocaine and heroin.

View video footage of the operation on our YouTube channel.

In addition, police recovered a significant number of criminal assets including £57k in cash, more than £8k in crypto currency and high-end designer watches and luxury trainers.

More than 10 weapons were seized including knives, machetes, batons, knuckle dusters and swords, reducing the threat of violence in communities.

The operation also saw 28 individuals identified and protected from further exploitation, many of whom were vulnerable young people and adults being used by criminal gangs to transport and sell drugs.

Now in its third year, Operation Hypernova, is the culmination of months of intelligence and partnership working in a bid to make the county hostile towards county lines drug dealers, prevent further exploitation of young and vulnerable people and reduce serious street-based violence.

I Support Barry Wainwright For County Council Elections

Barry has updated me with his ‘Local’ profile, the other 3 candidates are not involved in ‘Local’ organisations….

A605 Eastrea Road Repair Update

If you were to believe ‘one’ local councillor, you’d think he ‘fixed the A605 – total rubbish, for a number of years residents along the A605/Eastrea Road have complaind about the state of the road, County Councillor David Connor was on the case as Highways is a County remit, with myself and a few others lobbying in the background.

Nothing is ever strait forward and it is very frustrating when delays occur.
So well over 12 months delayed we now have this section I’d say 65% completed.
Of course we are very well aware of other parts of the A605 not being in good condition along with many other roads in our area – we are not alone – and work continuously to try and get funding for these roads – as do many other Fenland/Cambridgeshire councillors do for the area.

One man did not fix the problem – more spin from electioneering.

This Could and Does Happen Anywhere…

One teenager’s important call

Dear Roy,

It’s 1.59am on Wednesday morning. One teenager should have been safely asleep in bed, but was woken up by her mum’s partner shouting.

She confided in officers that the man had violently pulled her mum out of bed in front of a young toddler and her worried mum had told her to call the police.

The teenager kept the other child safe in the house in Wisbech while she called us, and said her mum’s partner didn’t believe police would visit.

We soon proved him wrong though, as he was arrested less than 20 minutes later on suspicion of assault and enquiries continue.

Some calls about domestic abuse don’t come from those suffering the abuse itself. They can come from worried family members, friends or neighbours.

If you or someone you love is suffering from domestic abuse, we have dedicated officers to help and support you. You are not alone.

For more information and advice, visit our dedicated web pages.

Kind regards,

Reform Issues & Maybe Somewhat Clueless

I am very aware of the ‘wave’ of support for the Reform Party, and can fully understand the publics reasons why the Reform Party is becoming ‘popular’.

However as I’ve stated many times, I respect all main stream political groups, that doesn’t mean a ‘free ride’……
So yesterday I engaged briefly with Mr. Fisher and Mr. Maston on the Whittlesey Buttercross as I had done the previous week.
From what I can ascertain, The Reform Party are standing on a National Platform – with the promo of Nigel plastered everywhere.
Quick to critise and find fault, with no solutions or answers to local/district or county issues.

Neither candidate (as far as I am aware and stand to be corrected if not) has had any involvement with any local charities, volunteer groups or ever attended any council/planning meetings…..this I am somewhat sorry to say – and if some think I am being harsh – so be it – bordering on being —– ‘Clueless’

Most would have already used their postal vote – but I urge the discontented voter (all) please think before voting –
I am supporting our ‘Local’ – Well Imformed – Active – Community – Candidate
Barry Wainwright at the Whittlesey South County Council elections.

No particular views on the Mayorial Elections, I think as many they’re all as bad as one another……

A small group (Friends of Platinum Wood) today had a tidy and clear up event, only 7 managed to attend but good progress made. Cllr Eamonn Dorling Co-lead on the project carries out many hours week on week to help in maintenance.
Dozens up dozens of residents like the peaceful walk along with many Dog Owners.

Coming VJ Day Celebrations – 08th June

More information as the date approaches.

In honour of the 80th anniversary of VE Day, the Prime Minister announced this week that pubs and bars in England and Wales will be able to stay open for an extra two hours until 1AM on 8 May, allowing more time to “raise a glass to all the men and women who served their country, both overseas and at home”.

But there are also plenty of other ways to get involved in the #VE80 celebrations – find an event taking place in your community, discover VE Day inspired baking recipes or download street party planning tips and tricks.

You could also show us how you’re getting into the VE Day spirit by entering Tip Top Towns. Share pictures on social media demonstrating how your community, town, village or city is coming together to decorate, celebrate and spruce up communal spaces.
Don’t forget to tag #VE80!

Members of the public are invited to line the Mall to watch the VE Day 80 military procession taking place on Monday 5 May in London.

Beginning at noon, more than 1,300 members of the Armed Forces, Uniformed Services and Uniformed Youth will march from Parliament Square to Buckingham Palace. A military fly past featuring the Red Arrows and 24 current and historic military aircraft will follow after the procession concludes.

A remembrance service will take place at Westminster Abbey to mark VE Day on 8 May, followed by A Celebration to Remember concert that evening on Horse Guards Parade where stars of stage and screen will tell the story of the end of the war. The commemorations will be broadcast on BBC One.

If you’re planning to attend, you can also read our guidance about where events are taking place and how to prepare.
