Today Is Merchant Navy Day.

Once again we are humbled and grateful to the Whittlesey Royal British Legion, for flying my rather old and tattered ‘Red Ensign’ to remember and commemorate the vast numbers of Merchant Seamen who lost their lives during 2 major world wars and other conflicts.

(30,000+ in WWII).
My thanks also to Barry Wainwright for sending me the below posting/photo.

Preparation For The Bower Footbridge Replacement.

In order to make room for a new / slightly larger ‘Bower Footbridge, two nearby tree’s have to be removed, Cambs CC Highways have applied for planning permission to carry out this work.
The replacement Bridge we are informed will be in place this year.

U3A Looking @ Starting A Dog Walking Group

A member recently asked if they could join the Walking Group and bring their dog.

The group decided it was not realistic as most walks involve a car journey to get to the start of the walk and a cafe at the end and some people don’t like dogs or have allergies.

She has had a word with me and I agreed the two would not mix well.

So lets start our own dog walking group.

You could walk weekly twice a month or monthly the choice is yours.

The Idea is while you walk your dog you are also getting to know other u3a members and you will form friendships so you can then go out to other places or to groups with them.

If interested get in touch on here and we can all meet up and set up the group.

This might just be what Harvey was on about in Have your say.

Kind Regards to you all

➡️ March Marketplace, between 10am and 12pm, on Wednesday, 10 September

➡️ Whittlesey Marketplace, between 10am and 12pm, on Friday, 12
September.

More advice on how to protect your bike from theft can be found on our website
