Again may we all ask ‘why’ there is/was no signage at the Delph to inform motorists…
Still waiting (20 years) for some electronic signage which was promised some time ago?
I can not see any flood warnings on the EA website – am I missing something again….

I have now viewed the reply from MP Stephen Barclay in response to my correspondence to him on February 17th concerning s deposit scheme for recycling of plastic, glass, bottles and containers, the article I wrote is below.

I have to say I am somewhat disappointed in ‘his’ reply – the contents of the letter tells me nothing I already know – and more importantly – when ‘questioned’ in my mail as to whether he has changed his ‘views’ in supporting this important initiative – no comment?
So has our once very engaging MP got himself into a very comfortable position – moving with promotion up the ranks of government – one of his latest vocal outbursts being the potential to ‘axe’ the £880K contribution to the A14 upgrade – sorry Steve you are ‘years’ too late!

Of course talking of litter/fly tipping – as I’ve just returned from our winter break, and going towards Fengate/Boongate – one can not but ‘notice’ the ‘vast’ amount of rubbish that has accumulated in the area – but (un) fortunately that is a Peterborough problem,
lets hope it doesn’t come our way.

Well I hope so, a few minor hic-ups but I dare say all in our stride.
A ‘Full House’ sold out with about the maximum the venue can comfortably handle.
My apologies to Maggies Mob team which ‘we’ forgot to double their Joker round score which would have made them equal winners…a technical mistake sorry.
The winners declared were the ‘Shy Teds’
who returned a very respectable 55 out of a max 70 points available.
The final round was the ‘Mastermind Round’ and again Maggies Mob scored 10/10 with what I considered to be some very difficult questions.
Had there been a tie – the breaker question would have been’

Just about caught up with correspondence and publications I do no see whilst away.
What a fantastic community we have….never mind the ‘moaners’ – once a moaner always a moaner. Looking though the free magazines, the amount of events, clubs and hobbies we can all get involved in. None of this would happen without the countless number of people who freely give their time to such projects.
One project which is important to us (since we lost our Police Station) is that of  ‘Special Constables’  see below..even though the event took place last night I think there is some valuable information and contact details to be had.

Message from Chief Inspector James Sutherland ​Area Commander – South Cambridgeshire ​Some exciting news- tonight, Wednesday 15th March at 7pm, we are going to be holding our first ever online Specials recruitment event: broadcast live from Cambourne police station.
The Special Constabulary is the volunteer police force that supports the work of Cambridgeshire Constabulary. ‘Specials’ are warranted officers that have all the powers of their ‘regular’ colleagues and are trained to a very high level.
The live event is an information evening for anyone who has ever thought about joining the special constabulary and wants to know more. ​ Hosted by Chief Inspector James Sutherland, over the course of the half-hour broadcast we will be talking to a number of different Specials covering issues such as the application process, the training, what the job is like, the amount of commitment required and so forth. We will also try to answer as many questions from the viewers as possible.
To take part in the event simply follow the main official Cambridgeshire Constabulary twitter account @cambscops ( https://twitter.com/CambsCops?lang=en ). At 7pm a link will be posted to the live broadcast- click the link and hey-presto you will join the broadcast.

Just returned from the Whittlesey Extravaganza Committee meeting held at the Town Hall. A very well attended meeting of 24 community spirited people, including 5 Whittlesey Councillors.
The community event has been going for around 21 years, the committee has organised the event for the last 2 years were all standing down.
Fortunately Lynne Palmer offered to take on the role of Chairperson, Sue Taylor offered to be Secretary and Cheryl Jakes as Treasurer. This was fantastic news that the event has a chance to survive another year. They are reasonably financially stable. The main issues are compliance with various authorities, who sometimes change the goal post from one year to another. Several other like minded offered to be part of the new committee.
As for myself! – I offered to be the ‘Independent Examiner’ of their accounts.
As Cllr Mrs K Mayor quoted “It would be a shame to loose this event – Whittlesey being the only Fenland town – not to have an event at Christmas”
So the ‘Extravaganza” lives another day – thanks again to those ‘volunteered’ their time, expertise and dedication for the benefit of the town.

For many years, a dedicated group have put on a ‘family friendly’ event prior to Christmas.
The Whittlesey Extravaganza takes a great deal of work to organise, alas in recent years the committee have found that the work involved may not have produced the positive feedback they once had.
There is an emergency meeting of the present committee – tomorrow Wednesday at 7:30 – I hope to attend and report the outcome.

As for many years, on returning home in March, it is ‘Spring’ – time for our (2) pets to come out of hibernation….Suntan (Female) & Timmy (Male).
Always apprehensive as to ‘if’ they survived another year….we have had Suntan for well over 40 years and Timmy 35 years.
Always pleased that they wake up – now they need a few weeks of TLC in order to get going again.
They both get weighed on digital scales. 

Friends of Whittlesey Library (FOWL) will be holding their Annual Quiz Night on Friday 18th March starting at 19:00, there is a Fish & Chips supper included in the price – plus a star prize raffle.

    
Another fantastic time at ‘The Waterfront in Kuching’ nice to have met and had a good conversation with the owner David L who’ s Lamborghini was parked outside, no he did not take us for a drive.
A relaxing 10 days here with a ‘room with a view’ once again.
Kuching still has a lot of ‘British’ history and culture along with traditional heritage. They are also very proud in keeping the place tidy, safe and clean.
Fantastic food as always, diverse and relatively inexpensive

One of my neighbours for the past 40+ years Mrs Christina  Booth has recently passed away, Connie & I pass on our condolences to Graham (Creation-Booth Web Designing)
The funeral I understand will be at Peterborough Crematorium 20th March @ 15:00
