Another Flood Warning – North Bank @ Sat 21st Dec 02:47am

Flooding is expected – immediate action required

Heavy rain on Friday 20th December has caused river levels to rise on the River Nene. During periods of high tide the river will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is likely to lead to localised flooding at North Bank Road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media.

Kings Delph Lay-By Repairs

Recently a Street Prider did over £300 worth of damage to his car when it ‘fell’ into one of the many deep pot-holes. Within a few days the worst ones were temporary repaired.
I see today that more work is being carried out.

Latest Scam

Sorry for a second alert in two days, but this is equally as important.I have been made aware of males cold calling within Cambridgeshire, they appear to be telling people that they represent energy companies and are offering cheap energy deals.
During one conversation they have used MoneySavingExpert.com in an attempt to legitimise their scam. On another occasion they have stated that they represent Lifeline installers (elderly emergency personal alarm) and on one occasion one of the suspects asked to enter the property to use the toilet.

At this time, it is unclear whether their intent was an attempt to commit a distraction burglary, or whether they were seeking to ask questions that lead to them obtaining private information about the occupant that could then lead to identity theft or the theft of money.
In summary: As we should all be aware, it is clear that fraudsters continue to travel around the county cold calling within local communities.

Do not allow un-announced, unknown persons into your property. Even if they show any kind of identification how do you know it is genuine?
MoneySavingExpert is an online presence only with no representatives cold calling.

If you are interested in saving money on energy bills, use a trusted well recognised comparison website, or contact your existing energy company, not the advice of people randomly knocking at the door.

Beware of Royal Mail Scam

I have received an alert to say that text messages are currently being sent across the UK apparently from the Royal Mail, informing the recipient that they have a parcel for collection. The text will provide a link requesting that the recipient should click on in it in order to make the collection.
DON’T!
It is highly likely that there is no parcel to collect. Were you expecting a parcel? If not be suspicious, even if you are, was the delivery service with the Royal Mail, or what it with another provider? Be careful. If you click on the link you will be asked to provide personal sensitive information that could lead to the theft of your identity and money.

Criminals always use some form of malicious social engineering in their communications. They will use fear or anxiety such as purporting to be the Police, or Bailiffs. They will use a financial incentive such as a prize, a gift, a higher interest rate and in this case they know people will be curious about receiving a parcel.

PLEASE DON’T CLICK ON A LINK WITHIN AN EMAIL, A TEXT, OR ANY FORM OF INSTANT MESSAGING SERVICE UNLESS SATISFIED THE SENDER IS GENUINE.

If in doubt, delete the message and try and verify the message through a trusted means. Do not reply to the original message.

Please pass on to friends, colleagues and family.
