More ‘Free’ Money being Given to Community Groups….

Dear Roy,

Cambridgeshire County Council is pleased to announce that the next deadline for Innovate & Cultivate Fund applications is 1st August 2020. One-to-one pre-application advice will be offered on 16th and 25th June (details below).
The aim of the fund is to support initiatives that strengthen our communities and reduce pressure on County Council services, thereby giving a return on investment.
Council services that are inviting applications are adult social care and children’s services.

The fund is open to voluntary, community and social enterprise sector organisations based in and outside of Cambridgeshire, and public sector organisations in Cambridgeshire. Please note that projects serving Peterborough residents are not eligible.
There are two funding streams: a ‘Cultivate’ fund for smaller projects that build community support networks and an ‘Innovate’ fund for bigger, bolder and more innovative initiatives.

Upcoming application deadlines.
1st August 2020 – Cultivate grants (£2,000 – £19,000) and Innovate grants (£19,001 – £50,000)
1st November 2020 – Cultivate grants only (£2,000 – £19,000) – subject to change

Pre-application advice.
We encourage organisations to talk through project ideas before submitting an application.  Bookings are now open for one-to-one telephone advice appointments on Tuesday 16th June and Thursday 25th June between 9:30am-1:30pm. These 15 minute appointments must be pre-booked and are available on a first come first served basis. Please book here.
Applications and further information about fund priorities and criteria may be found on the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (CCF) website. CCF can answer questions about applying for the fund info@cambscf.org.uk

Please Be Aware & Careful

There has been a distraction burglary in London Street, Whittlesey at approx. 12:15pm today (Saturday 13th June).

Description of suspect is: White male, 5ft 7-9inches, in his fifties, medium to stocky build, full head of thinning light brown hair, wearing glasses, thin body warmer, and brown zip top
No vehicle details known.

If you see anyone fitting the description please report to the police – email the force Control Room at: force.control@cambs.pnn.police.uk

This is something that could occur to others so keep alert – with the weather warming he could have removed the body warmer – if you see anything that makes you suspicious report it and let the police decide on its importance.
Regards
Robin

Boots High Causeway Closure

Most will be aware that the Boots™ Pharmacy on High Causeway will be closing at the end of August.
There has been some misunderstanding (myself included) of what the plan was for their exsisting customers.
Reading in detail the document.
I have made enquiries and spoken with the owner of The Independent Pharmacy (Mr Dell) and he has confirmed the following, which if I had read it in more detail does explain the situation although not obvious.

There is NO plan for Boots Chemist to re-locate to the ‘Old Nat West Building’ – that is No.2 Market Street.

In essence what is happening – Boots are transferring their ‘Primary Pharmacy Licence’ to the Independent Chemist, to do this, he needs to ‘close/relinquish’ his existing licence.

Once the new licence is in place – he then transfers his existing customers and
the Boots database into the new licence.
