Peterborough has seen 235 coronavirus deaths, the most out of anywhere in Cambridgeshire – with 161 in hospital, 63 in care homes, nine at home, one in a hospice and one other taking place elsewhere.
Huntingdonshire had the next highest death toll, at 190 with 131 of those happening in hospital.

Heavy rain that has fallen over the River Nene catchment over the last week, means that the Whittlesey Wash flood storage reservoir is being operated to protect nearby communities from flooding. The rising levels in the Wash have resulted in flooding of the B1040 road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority may close the B1040 for safety reasons. Diversionary routes will be put in place, and further updates will be available through local media. This Flood Warning is expected to stay in force for a few days, until water levels recede. Please follow diversionary routes until the Local Authority re-open the road. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated on Wednesday 27th January, or as the situation changes.

(RG – When I questioned Mr Medd towards the end of ‘Lock-Down 1’ on how many enforcement fines for some 200 reported breaches of the rules there had been –
Answer 0000000 – Zero)

Firstly please may I assure you the 200 reports of non-compliances were initial reports to the Council that were investigated, they were not confirmed breaches of legislation or guidance. It was really positive these reports were received as it shows the trust customers, staff and businesses have that the council will respond and offer support. I hope I can add some context to those numbers though.

Fenland Neighbourhood Police have issued 5 fines over last weekend for breaches of COVID regulations….

Anne informs me that the Whittlesey Community Car Scheme is still very much helping and supporting our area, the ‘Fantastic Volunteers’ are still taking residents for Hospital appointments – they are operating reduced service.

One of the main items was to increase the Council Tax Rebate from 14% to 20% was adopted unanimously and now goes to Full Council to be ratified.
