Kings Dyke X Update – Today 08th February 2021
©CCC
A message from local member Cllr David Connor:
The first month back after Christmas has been busy for everyone on site at King’s Dyke. Work is well underway on the railway bridge and the underpass and attention has also turned to the Star Pit quarry.
The railway bridge columns (pictured left) have all been poured and the next step will be the construction of the abutment wall. The abutment walls are constructed to allow the bridge beams to eventually be placed on top of the walls to form the bridge.
For the underpass (pictured right), a temporary mould is being installed for the eastern abutment, ready for the concrete pour.
Work will now begin on filling in a section of the Star Pit quarry with stone as part of the design for the embankment. Star Pit is being filled to allow the embankment to be constructed on top. Lorries will deliver the material to site via the entrance to the west of the railway and this phase of work is expected to run until the summer.
I hope you’re all keeping well and remember to stay at home and stay safe.
David

No Holidays – So Where Did We Go….#5
No holidays planned so have to reminisce on the wonderful places we visited.
This week it is 2003 when we drove all the West Coast of America, to Vancouver and Vancouver Island and Whistler. We saw some fantastic sights from The Redwood Forrests, Nappa Valley, Waterfalls and more Waterfalls…..ahh the memories…

Amazed By The Volume of Traffic
Yesterday one of our correspondents went for their once a week ‘click & collect’ and was amazed by the volume of traffic. Later on returning was just the same.
Another correspondent went at a different time and reports were similar.
Maybe ‘everyone’ on the road are on esstential travel.
