KD X Update

A message from the King’s Dyke project team:

We’re pleased to say that work is progressing well, with the partial filling of Star Pit reaching the point where the whole area is now above water.
Work will continue here until the level reaches that of the bridge.

There has also been progress on the embankment next to the eastern abutment for the railway bridge, with it now at the right height for a crane to be brought in to lift the beams for the bridge into place.

The bridge beams themselves will be lifted into place throughout Sunday 9 May.

Due to the size of the beams, there will be minimal temporary traffic management for short periods starting from 7pm on Friday 8 May to 5pm on Sunday 9 May.
This will allow us to get the beams onto site for the lift to take place.

We would like to thank you for your patience while these works take place as swiftly and safely as possible.

Deborah’s Ben Nevis Climb – 02nd May

Climbing a mountain a year to help keep the defibrillators of Whittlesey maintained has become a bit of a tradition. Covid has caused us issues with planning but I am going ahead with my plan to climb on 2nd May.

This year we are on a mission to replace all the defibrillator cabinets due to wear and tear. We also want to upgrade some of our defibrillators to keep all the towns defibrillators tip top.

Update On Theft of 84 Year Old Lady Victory Avenue.

A lot of ‘press’ on local media, a demonstration by ‘Social Media Group’ widely reported.
I understand that someone has been arrested for the alleged crime.

Reports To The Police

For sometime, various services we have be getting by Cambridgeshire Police, have slowly disappeared. Police Stations closed down, due to ‘efficiency’ and ‘technology’ taking over.
The vast majority of reporting incidents to the Police (other than 999 calls) is best done online. But not everyone is e-connected, most are but not everyone.

Walk in services will still be available at Parkside Police Station in Cambridge and Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough, they will remain open from 8am to 8pm every day.

Chief Constable Nick Dean said: “In line with the neighbourhood policing changes that were announced at the end of last year, we are having to streamline our services.

I am not a big fan of CC Dean, he has more Police Officers, More Resources, More Funding, but all he appears he has achieved is cutting services to the public.
The clear-up rate for crime is also somewhat disappointing to say the least.

Maybe when we get a new Police & Crime Commissioner after May 06th – we will start to see a somewhat better service from our CC Nick Dean.
Gone – never to return – Whittlesey Police Station.

People can help make the roads of Cambridgeshire safer for everyone by reporting anyone they think may be drink or drug driving via the force’s dedicated, confidential hotline.

The hotline: 0800 032 0845 is available 24/7, and gives people the chance to help reduce the number of drink or drug drivers on the roads.
