I Was There – First Meeting With PCC

I was the ‘only’ person from Whittlesey to attend the ‘first’ engagement meeting with the newly elected Police & Crime Commissioner Mr Daryl Preston.
The invitation of The Federation of Small Businesses (Cambs Branch) gave Mr Preston an opportunity to lay out some of ‘his’ priorities for Policing in Cambridgeshire.
A £164 Million budget and some 1,700 Police Officers by next year.
Prevention and Organised Crime along with the National £Billions lost in Cyber Crime.

Early days for Mr Preston, and hopefully once settled in (3 weeks into the job) he may start to hold other surgeries whereby we will be able to engage with him.

Even A. T. is a Nimby !

Alan Titchmarsh condemns ‘totally inappropriate’ plans to build ‘towering’ incinerator with 260ft chimneys ‘nearly as tall as Big Ben’ which will loom over his countryside home.

So an ‘Incinerator’ is planned near Broadcaster Alan Titchmarsh.
The article highlights some good reasons NOT to build an Incinerator.
Unfortunately even though at present Incinerator is NOT planned for Whittlesey (at present) the waste from them is being considered….No luck – we don’t have an Alan Titchmarsh living here to put their weight behind the objections.

Another Uber Scam….

The following phishing text message has been received locally.

The criminal sending it will know full well that you hadn’t booked an Uber ride, which is why they conveniently put the link into the message inviting those that were concerned about the nature of the message to click on it.

If you do click on the link, then you will be invited to fill out a form containing your very important and private information which the criminal will use to try and access other accounts, or trade your details online with other criminals.

If you receive a suspicious text message then please forward to 7726

Suspicious emails to report@phishing.gov.uk

If you suspect you are a victim of a scam, contact your bank first and then contact Action Fraud.

We Like Tree’s – It’s Sunday

Nice weather for a change, lets hope it continues.
For the past 5 years Connie & I have sponsored ‘The Woodland Trust’

https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/
50 Million Trees planted since 1972

Instead of sending ‘lots’ of |Christmas Cards| we sponsor 50 new trees to be planted every year.

I am hoping to get more people involved here-locally to plant more tree’s – we all know
it is good for the environment and habitat.

There are ‘lots’ of free trees to be had, it is just finding suitable places to plant them.
I’m on the case as usual.

NT – Hinton Ampner – Wednesday this week.

Phew – Nice Few Days Away

First outing since beginning of December 2020….locked in.
A few nice days R&R in the New Forest area. Beat the Bank Holiday mad rush – but traffic on motorways was very busy and congested.
Oh the weather – Sunshine at last.

Hopefully – Repairs – Manor Car Park

The Manor Car Park is owned by Fenland District Council, but the Leisure and Swimming Pool at under contract to Freedom Leisure and it is their responsibility for upkeep and maintenance of the Car Park.
I was informed that a very exorbitant quote was given.
Today I see there is more markings and some digging out of small area’s.
We shall wait and see….
