Fake banking apps are available to download from both the Apple Store and Google Play, apps that fraudsters could use to scam people.
The link below relates to a Wiltshire media article and provides more detail of the scam in action, but I will provide a summary.

Fraudsters download a fake banking app and search local online marketplaces.

If you are selling something locally and you invite the buyer to visit your home, or an agreed meeting place, be alert if you agree to the sale when the buyer produces their mobile phone and asks for your bank account and sort code. You will be able to watch them enter the details into their fake banking app and then they will show you the screen of their phone which will display a message that the agreed amount has successfully been paid into your bank.

Please do not hand over the goods until you have checked and confirmed that the payment has been received into your own bank account, but this is where the criminal may try and distract you.

This type of scam could impact on any one of us potentially, but I am concerned for those who are vulnerable and feel intimidated, so they don’t check their bank account before handing over the goods.

First in a 10 month program to give Councillors (District and Town/Parish) ongoing training on planning matters. I was pleased today as the only Town Councillor to attend
along with Whittlesey/Coates 3 District/Town Councillors, Cllrs Mayor, Laws & Miscandlon.
Todays subject was dealing with how Archaeology impact planning applications.
A good length of time given to ‘Must Farm’ Whittlesey.

for 203 dwellings land North of Guildenburgh Water.
Access, A605, Tucan Crossing and infrastructure for the planned Supermarket were presented.

During the Q&A session, myself and other Councillors made concerns about comparisons of the previous application re Country Park, Business Park and Supermarket and this application.
Highlighted the issues of A605 (Cambs Highways have no concerns) and the issue of Medcial Facilities within the growing town.
3 members of the public were present but did not take part in the public forum.

Attached a plan of where the County Archaeologist has instructed us to investigate.

Again, I have been lobbied by a number of residents who have issues and concerns of the ‘smell & noise’ allegedly coming from the Saxon area.
This has been previously reported and I would ask that residents who do have these concerns to contact both their own Councillor so that he/she are aware and the complaints reporting at Fenland District Council, who are monitoring the situation.

Police and Crime Commissioner,
Darryl Preston is asking Cambridgeshire and Peterborough residents to give their views on his proposed increase to the policing part of council tax in a short survey.

The survey was launched yesterday (6^th January) and will be open until 5pm on 20^th January 2022.
