The Community & WTC Platinum Wood

I am pleased to update, as of today our fantastic individuals, community groups and local businesses have sponsored 62 Trees out of the 70 target we plan to plant later in the year.
I am also very pleased to inform that a suitable site, within the Whittlesey area, has been agreed with the owners of the land – this site is fairly easy to be accessed so that sponsors will be able to visit their Tree(s)

If you would like one of the few remaining Trees available – please contact me – my details are on the top toolbar.

KD X Update

A message from the King’s Dyke project team:

On Wednesday 23 March we will be asking traffic to temporarily drive on a section of the new western roundabout – closest to Peterborough and near McCains – for three days while work takes place on the existing A605.

This means you will use the new roundabout rather than the current A605 until Friday 25 March. There will be traffic lights at the tie-in itself, but it will be two-way traffic around the roundabout.

Please drive carefully during this temporary layout and observe the signs. Please note, the new bus stops within the current site will temporarily be in operation during these dates.

Johnson’s Lorries Entering & leaving The Saxon Pit

Following received from the Environment Agency.
Thank you for your email of 21 March 2022.

Johnsons Aggregates and Recycling Ltd under environmental permit reference DP3131NM can accept and store Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA), however, as you are aware there is currently no relevant planning permission is place for the proposed activities. Any suspected breach of planning legislation is a matter for Cambridgeshire County Council to investigate.

The operator has been transporting processed IBA to Saxon Pit from their other permitted sites. This is because once fully recovered to meet a specific criteria, IBA becomes known as Incinerator Bottom Ash Aggregate (IBAA).  IBAA is not waste and can be accepted on site and used as a substitute for aggregate to form a sub-base for installing further concrete.
I suspect this is what the lorries seen entering and leaving site are associated with as concrete extension works continue.

No waste was stored on site during my visit on 14 March 2022.

Kind regards,
Senior Environment Officer – Bedford waste team

Protecting Your Home from Burglars

Spring has sprung – longer days and warmer weather (hopefully) is upon us!

We want to take this opportunity as a reminder about securing your homes.
We’re heading into the time of year where our windows are being opened to get some of that fresh spring air circulating, but unfortunately, historically we see thieves using this as an opportunity to invite themselves into unoccupied homes.

Leaving ground floor windows, doors and patio doors open in the warmer weather can give burglars the perfect opportunity. If you’re upstairs or out of the room, even just for a few minutes, close them and help shut burglars out. Always close windows and doors if you’re leaving your home altogether.

Please take a few minutes to look at the advice on our website, it could be a couple of minutes which prevents your home from being burgled.

Take a look at our advice here.

Don’t forget, if you see something suspicious, please report it to us!

  • Report online: www.cambs.police.uk/report
  • Speak to an online operator: via webchat
  • Non-emergencies (if a crime has already happened or you need to pass on information): call 101
  • Emergencies (if someone is in danger or a crime is in action): call 999
