I have been a member of this group since it was formed, as far as I am aware I am the only Councillor in Whittlesey that sits on this group.
They have received funding from Central Government throughout the Covid crisis and I have only been called upon on a few occasions to find help and support for those in need.
This included ‘White Goods’, Emergency Food Funding (up to £70) and now of course Energy Support. The main group locally are Age Concern based in Peterborough.

In the context of WW2 narratives, the story of Operation Mincemeat is unique a bizarre and seductive cinematic blend of high-level espionage and ingenious fiction, where the stakes could hardly be higher. Michelle Ashford’s script fuses multiple strands and moods: tense, romantic, thrilling, unexpectedly funny, and endlessly surprising. It tells a richly human story of the soldiers we seldom see, who fight a different kind of war in shadows and deception, haunted by the knowledge that certainty and guarantee of success are nowhere to be found.

No actual admission charges made but a suggested donation of £5pp to cover operating expenses is welcomed please. Refreshments and time for chat during interval.

One pre-booked resident attended with myself and Cllr Julie Windle, the topic was the ‘Public Toilets’ behind the George.

I have covered this on several occasions on this web-blog.
I was able to update Mrs M in that after the latest vandalism – Toilets are about to be reopened in the very near future. (FDC have not given an exact date).

It was expained the number of occasions over the past few years, the anount of vandalism that has occured – resulting in ‘Many £££/Thousands to repair.

On the last occasion the toilets were only open 1 day before they were set upon.

This is a landmark moment

We have a special opportunity to buy part of the Great Fen, Speechly’s Farm, connecting Woodwalton Fen and Holme Fen National Nature Reserves. Creating a continuous corridor to; allow fen wildlife to thrive right across the Great Fen, lock in even more carbon into the ground, expand the growth of sustainable planting and help local people find well-being in nature.

We need your support in our largest appeal ever as we need to raise £400,000 to help unlock a further £4m from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to secure Speechly’s Farm.
