Cambs Resilience Group Meeting

I am the only individual in Whittlesey and District that belongs to the Cambs Resilience Group, under Cambs CC. The main contact is Age UK, but they are not well represented if at all here in Whittlesey. There is funding for those in need of short term issues.

I have been able to help with ‘White Goods’ replacements, although there is now a limit on that, and have helped with those experiencing the ‘Fuel Crisis’

Todays Traffic Survey A605

I supported the Saxongate Group for a 2 hour shift this afternoon, monitoring mainly HGV’s entering/passing the Saxon Works site and HGV’s transiting the A605 East & West.
One major concern as can be seen for the photo’s is the access entrance/exit.
Unfortunately – Cambridgeshire Highways have not identified this as a problem.

Note:- This exercise was purely a ‘snapshot’ of Traffic on the A605.

KD X Update

The surfacing works have now started at the eastern roundabout (pictured right), which is opposite Forterra.

Elsewhere, the embankment between the railway bridge and the underpass structure is now nearly level, which has allowed works to start on the reinforced concrete slabs (pictured left) that sit on top of the embankment behind the railway bridge.

Barclays Closing Old Fletton Branch

I suppose it was only a matter of time, many Barclays customers use this branch for convienience and free on street parking. Alas last day will be Friday 5th August when another brabch closes. Barclasy claim only a few people use the branch.
Yes – I put my hands up – ‘Guilty’ – I have been using online banking since its early development. Fortunately you can still use our Post Office/NISA for most banking.
Nationwide have provided excellent services for many years and I have to say were very accomodating during the ‘Lock-Down’ periods.
Alas we are living in the financial future not the past…..

Why Do People Do This

A nice field with access for walkers and dogs, an area we are considering planting The Platinum Wood’. I was there on Saturday and did a litter-pick, not much there at all.
Yesterday (Monday) I find that some caring person has dumped and partly dismantled a bicycle just over the fencing. A big security lock around the railing was also left.
FDC has been requested to remove the bicycle.

Ye Olde Law States No Offence Committed….

I like all animals and wildlife, I like to see the pony & trap parked ip on the Buttercross,
however its owner regularly leave the evidence for someone else to collect of pick up.
Somewhat anti-social after a few pints relaxing in te George….
Not an offence Officer – Horse owners have no legal duty to clean up afterwards, where as Dog Owners do….

On the other hand, your dog poop is very toxic, with all manner of bacteria. While horse manure breaks down rather quickly, dog poop sticks around a lot longer. It gets into ground water and spreading fecal coliform bacteria, which can make life miserable.
