A Good Time Had By All – Except Two?

At 08:30 yesterday as I was waiting to start my ‘volunteer’ role at the BIG BASH –

When I was verbally attacked and abused by a man and woman who were unhappy that a part (small) of the Manor Field was being used for car parking, I tried to engage with said man and woman who’s expletives carried on for some time, he was also somewhat very aggressive in his nature – He had a go at me being a Councillor – I was not in my capacity as a Councillor – I was a ‘volunteer’.

To say I was shocked is an understatement – not expected on a Sunday morning at 08:30 – I suggested that the gentleman seek ‘Anger Management’ which he took some exception too….. Fortunately it was witnessed by a member of the public.

The rest of the day was enjoyed by several thousand adults and children and I met a lady who visited the BB from Blackpool…..

Well done Robert Windle and all the supporters for another very successful day.

Sad That Two More Businesses Are To Close

Homme Nouveau – which opened just before the COVID epedemic and by all accounts has found it hard to recover is closing in October.

Homme Nouveau restaurant in Whittlesey – hit hard by the pandemic – is to close.
Owner Chris Newman isn’t going immediately, telling customers via his Facebook page he will remain until close of business on October 29.

“After weeks and months of stress, sleepless nights and tears, it is with a heavy heart and great sadness that Homme Nouveau will be permanently closing,” he said.

A favourite local Butcher for many years, DB Freeman & Daughters are to close.
David Freeman who I knew very well and remember him delivering meat and groceries around Coates on his ‘Butchers Bike’ in the 1950’s, his father ‘Wilf’ owned the Butchers Shop in Coates.

David later delivered food all around the local area before opening up their shop in High Causeway.

Swift Action By Councillors & FDC

Myself and Cllr Kay Mayor were on the case this morning in respect of the ‘abusive graffiti’ left at the Garden of Rest….within 3 hours the offensive material was removed.
It is possible that those responsible have no idea (stupid) what the meaning of this type of vandalism has on the community.
