Saxon Works – Jenkinson Retrospective Planning Application

I make no apologies for driving the concerns and issues associated with this operation.
Well over 100 people have now made strong objections to Fenland District Council,
(I believe there is one person who is not objecting.)

I repost our MP Steve Barclay letter of objection – he too has serious concerns.
Some of the objections are not Planning Based and will not count.

It is my understanding that if/when this application is to be heard, Leader of FDC and Whittlesey Councillor Chris Boden will seek to have it heard/held here in Whittlesey.
Besides numerous issues this operation is causing residents, they have are operating without Planning Permission – they appear NOT to want to engage with local residents group Saxongate.
We shall have to let the system take its course.

Fenland – Local Council – Precept 2022 – 23

The chart shows what each area in Fenland charge and raise as a precept.
Naturally other local taxes are applied – ie Cambs County Council and Fenland District Council.
As can be seen Whittlesey Town Council have NOT put up Council Tax and actually a small reduction – This has been supported by myself and other Independent Councillors – we pay enough already – what do you get for your money – I will do a post on that closer the elections.

Update – FDC Cabinet Meeting Agenda – Monday 20th February

On the agenda Council Tax not increasing, which has been the case for a number of years,
some will welcome this, but in reality a saving of £5:00 is somewhat a very small amount.
There are those who say it is a political stance in that there are local elections coming in May and the majority Conservative administration will make great mileage from there not being an (FDC) increase….

It is not without risk as Officers at FDC have highlighted – read the complete story
on John Elworthy Cambsnews©   https://www.cambsnews.co.uk/

On the agenda will be :- Whittlesey Growing Fenland Market Town Funding from CPCA (Pages 105 106)
The purpose of this report is to update Cabinet on the success of applications to the
CPCA to put in place new projects supporting the community in Whittlesey, recycling
the remaining Market Towns funding of £455,000 following the cancellation of the
Whittlesey Heritage Centre project.
