Elections May 04th 2023

The electorate will decide this Thursday, who will represent you at Fenland District Council (all wards contested) and at Whittlesey Town Council (4 Wards uncontested and 2 Wards St Andrews Ward and Coates & Eastrea to be contested).

My stance has always to vote for the ‘person’ not the party, I am not here to rubbish other candidates, who in general have put their necks on the chopping block and are prepared to have a go….That said, there are candidates who have been ‘parachuted’ in from outside the area – who wouldn’t know the names of roads or areas in and around our town and villages.

As you would expect I have a ‘team’ whom I thank for putting out over 2,000 leaflets and with – only one complaint! – in a vast area which I did post here last week.
Our town is growing and will continue to grow in the next 4 to 8 years, as many know we are not alone in trying to get our fair share of monies out of the decreasing pot.
Much of this funding emanates from central government, our MP and Combined Mayor have to lobby for much of this funding, but it ‘we’ at ground level who can lobby upwardly.

As most of you are aware, I have been elected with a lady from Peterborough (Diana Dickinson – conservative) for the Town Ward of Whittlesey South, I hope to continue in supporting our whole community as best as I can and hope the other candidates if elected follow the very good work done by this present Council.

Not everything can be fixed, no magic wand and never make promises you can not fulfil.

Out and about, people asking for help with usual – ‘Potholes’, Parking Issues, and appointments at The New Queen Street Surgery to name a few – I dealt with them all….

I hope this Thursday you will use your vote please vote Roy Gerstner Independent.
(Party politics have no place in local issues)

Councillors Working Together Get Results

Nothing new – I work with all Councillors to support our community.
On Monday reported to me graffiti in St Mary’s Churchyard by nearby resident.
I asked Cllr Kay Mayor to contact FDC and I contacted the Street Scene Officer.
Tuesday offending graffiti had been removed – and since a sensitive area of stonework, no chemicals or solvents used. We get results like this quiet often.

See crime, see vandalism, see graffiti – please report it 101 or Webchat at Cambs Police.

Results after removal – I don’t have original damage.

Water Tower Recreation Ground

Fenland District Council has been informed by the company responsible for the maintenance of the Water Tower at Tower Close recreation Ground that further telecoms upgrades have been scheduled over the next few weeks.
To carry out the work safely they will need to close the park to pedestrians and will do this by placing heras fencing across both entrances to prevent access.

2nd – 4th May: Installing scaffolding inside the tower

9th – 11th May: Upgrading telecoms equipment

15th – 17th May: Removing scaffolding

The company completing the work will ensure signage is displayed at each entrance to inform residents and pedestrians.
Apologies for the late notice, we have only recently been advised the open space will need to be closed during this period.
Please can you forward this to Town Councillors on my behalf.

Problem was I was out and about when I received the e-mail, by the time I’d got back I received another e-mail to day they had all gone…..

Never mind – the weather doesn’t look good at this time.

Resident Bower Swan – Clutch of 8 Eggs

Our resident ‘Bower Swan’ has 8 eggs in her nest, hopefully she will be left alone and not disturbed. Last year the river suffered ‘paint’ pollution just prior to hatching.
