Next U3A Meeting – Try It Out…..

The Speaker at next week’s open meeting will be Joe Jenkins From Whittlesey Emergency Food Aid.

Joe will be telling us about the work of this important local organisation and how it helps people living in our area in difficulty.

If anyone has unwanted tinned or packaged food items they don’t need, toiletries or similar items please bring them along.
Do not feel that you are obliged to donate anything but even if it is just a tin of baked beans or a bar of soap it will be welcome.

How To Report Anti-Social Behaviour

Are You Clued Up – On OTP’s

Our cyber security advisor, Nigel Sutton, has this important warning ⚠️👇

“Are you clued up on OTPs? That’s right, one-time passcodes! Those annoying messages that pop up every now and again asking you to verify an online purchase 💻

“As irritating as they can be when you’re trying to complete a transaction, these passcodes – which are usually sent to your mobile phone via text message – provide a vital defence in the fight against fraud to ensure thieves and scammers can’t make purchases with your card details 💳

“However, fraudsters have discovered a workaround and are now calling customers pretending to be from the bank or a trusted organisation, such as the police, requesting OTPs, which they can then use to make a fraudulent transaction.

“June saw the highest number of suspected OTP scams nationally and there have been just over 3,000 successful scams reported in the last six months, 57 of which were in Cambridgeshire.

Remember, your bank will never ask you to share an OTP, neither will we.
Keep them to yourself 🔐!”

Policing Fenland – Neighborhood Police

Our PCSOs have been out in Whittlesey today doing some parking and ASB patrols. 🚔
Whilst doing some parking patrols around Broad Street and Market Street, we had to assist some people with a gas issue and make sure that it was being sorted with minimal disruption to the town. We then spoke to a woman who was selling items around the town centre without any licenses and made sure that she left the area.
It was great to be able to speak to some business owners where parking is an issue and get some feedback from them! Only two parking tickets were issued today. 🚗

Finally, we headed to the Sycamore Road area to follow up on some reports around anti-social behaviour. We went door-to-door to speak to residents and hear their thoughts on what has been going on recently.
These residents participated in our community survey which helps inform our neighbourhood policing priorities. 👮

All the feedback and concerns taken from residents will continue to inform us about what is a priority and help us with targeted patrols. 💙
