Construction Site Visits Combat Modern Slavery

Last week our officers visited construction sites in the county as part of ongoing efforts to combat modern slavery.

The action follows a national increase in the number of modern slavery cases being identified within the construction industry.

On this occasion no victims were identified, but officers were still able to offer advice to workers and site managers.

The vast majority of businesses are legitimate, but some exploit workers with poor working conditions and pay well below the minimum wage.

If you’re employed in the industry, or you’re getting construction work completed on your home, please be aware of the signs and report any concerns.

You can find more information about last week’s action and the signs to look out for on the news section of our website.

Kind regards,
Tim Goddard
Communications officer
