New 20 MPH Speed Limit – Church Street/Ramsey Road
3 public meetings with residents of Church Street and Ramsey Road in the last 4 years!
2+ years to get a meeting with Cambridgeshire Highways.
1½ years of consultations.
The residents were offered choices of :- Speed Bumps/Speed Humps/Speed Cushions,
a chicane network or a 20MPH speed reduction network.
Around 80% of the residents voted for the 20MPH scheme.

To make the scheme ‘legal’ all adjacent roads off Ramsey Road & Church Street need the same signage.
Any reduction in speed is welcomed, and yes we are aware of ‘who’ may ‘police’ the limit.
I will monitor and get feedback from the residents who live directly along the road(s)
(Yes the 1st picture Ramsey Road shows the state of the ‘Weed’ issues)

An Open Letter To Parents & Carers…
I’m seeking your support and compliance as we begin the new academic year.
As you will be aware, the demand on police resources is significant and I must manage the demand we face against the resources I have at my disposal.
One of the most common complaints my team and I receive is about illegal parking, in particular around the schools when taking and collecting young people from their place of education. In an ideal world I would not have to deploy any resources to address parking issues, and I could focus our time on issues of greater risk.
However, some parking presents a risk to the public – and our children – that we cannot ignore.
Let me first say thank you to those of you who do park legally and show due consideration for other road users and young people.
For those who do not, I am asking you please to take responsibility for your parking, ensure you park legally and with consideration for other road users.
By doing so this will present a far safer environment in which everyone can take and collect their child from school.
By way of a reminder, the most common offences are listed here within the highway code 👉 The Highway Code – Waiting and parking (238 to 252) – Guidance – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
My team and I will continue to work with schools and the community safety partnership to identify initiatives and funding to support Safer Schools initiatives. We will also continue to provide high visibility patrols and for those who choose to ignore legislation and public safety, we will carry out enforcement activity.
If you do have concerns regarding parking matters, please report the issues through our online reporting portal
👉 Report illegal parking | Cambridgeshire Constabulary (cambs.police.uk)
Thank you for your support and co-operation in creating a safer environment for all.
Your sincerely,
Inspector Andy Morris
(Fenland Neighbourhood Policing Team.
