The County Council is continuing to maintain the temporary westbound lane closure for road safety reasons, while tests take place to fully understand the carriageway issue, why the cracks have appeared and come up with a way forward.
Clearly this means that road users will continue to experience delay in this location.  

 Due to the nature of the monitoring and testing we are unable, at this point, to provide any programme for when the lane can be reopened but will continue to keep the public updated.

The format will be the tested year on year success.

Funding is always a challenge and the costing this year have all risen by some 10% over 2023 prices.

A small cabin cruiser that was moored behind the retail park on Station Road
(Bowling one), has been vandalised and cut loose. 
Middle Level are aware and will get it tied off.

At yesterdays FDC planning meeting, John Ankers – Old Chapel Farm for Weddings and Entertainment Venue, was proposed by officers to be granted, however due to WTC and neighbours objecting came to the committee for determination.
Cllr Alex Miscandlon speaking on behalf of WTC planning committee, objections mainly on the road, access, noise and speeding. Another neighbour put good arguments on environmental grounds.
However the FDC committee, granted the application with several conditions attached –
Hours of operation and the number of events a year.

Conspiracy theorists are rife on social media as usual, without any factual knowlege in most cases.
I can tell you as a Councillor – we have been told very little by the authorities…..
As on many occasions, many in Whittlesey have stated in the past – their knowledge of having worked in the Brick-Pits, the instability of the soil and clay.

Two recent works ongoing to shore up the face(s) of the pits.
Some said when plans for the new bridge was being planned it was always going to have problems……
So what was supposed to be remedial surface work for a week, has turned into months, which makes us all ‘think’ there are problems we are not being told about?

I am pleased to let you know the works near the Sir Harry Smith Community College new entrance was completed on behalf of the Cambridgeshire County Council Capital Education Team from 12^th – 19^th August ahead of the new term.
I have attached some photos of the completed work.

This work included.

• Extending the 20mph restriction into a 20mph zone
• Parking restrictions and lining
• Two sets of speed cushions
• A raised pedestrian crossing  near the new entrance

Additionally, in order to fully utilise the closure to its full potential we liaised with LHO from CCC to complete the following works.

• Certain pothole repairs with dragon patcher
• Gully emptying / jetting within the closure
