So How Come Cambridge Gets Bollards and We Don’t

For more years than I can count (at least 12), ‘we’ have been trying to make safe and secure
High Causeway in Whittlesey, after (at least 12 years) we put our final case to Cambs CC Highways for a LHI (local highways improvement) on ‘Safety Concerns’ – As good as rejected, even though there was and is a strong case….so how come Cambridge gets….
I don’t know…

Parking bays could be removed and bollards restricting through-traffic installed on Sidgwick Avenue in Cambridge to help improve safety.
The move would provide more space for pedestrians and wheelchair users and make the road safer for cyclists.
Currently more than 70 per cent of people using Sidgwick Avenue walk or wheel but around 250 pedestrians or wheelchair users are being forced off the path and out into the road on average each day.

Flood Warning No Longer In Force

11:03 GMT – North Bank Road alongside the River Nene, east of Peterborough and west of Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice

The situation is improving and no further flooding is expected in this area.

Flood warnings and alerts may still be in force for surrounding areas.

The Flood Warning has now been removed. However, a Flood Alert remains in force for the wider area, so flooding of roads and low lying land is still possible.

As ‘If; Starmer doesn’t have enough problems…..
When he was the DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) he was ‘a wet’ and hasn’t moved on much since….

Here is one of many that is going around at present….

Belated History This Week

100 years ago, the Scottish engineer John Logie Baird gave the first public demonstration of a working, mechanical television transmission system.

Having initially trained in Radio, Communications and Television in the late 60’s
(still black and white), I’ve seen the progression to todays wonderful technology.
Everything you ever wanted at the stoke on a ‘phone’, instant – full high definision.

I’ll not dwell too long as ‘most’ will not have realised the 100th anniversary.
However, I’ve always been confused and amazed.
The Television, should have actually been named ‘Telescope’, however may it be
Hans Lippershey or Isaac Newton that took credit, the word ‘Television’ is a mix of Latin and Greek, and as the correct name (Telescope) had aready been used….left no other option than using the word ‘Television’.
Of course there were other names – ‘Televista’….

Vandals At Large – Frustrated Maybe – Criminal Damage Yes.

‘Someone’ has damaged the chain/padlock beyond repair and for good measure broken the flood gate south side of the Dog-in-a-Doublet bridge.
What ever the reason, this and others in the past maybe engangering other peoples lives.

Councillor Fails To Attend Surgery

There maybe a valid excuse for my fellow ward councillor Gurninder Singh Gill, (con)
not attending as advertised yesterdays (Saturday) WTC Councillor surgery.
This could have compromised Cllr Bibb having to attend on his own.

No apology (as yet) and waste of my time trying to contact him as he has ‘Never‘ answered or responded to any e-mail I have ever sent him?
He ‘regularly‘ fails to attend meetings, and rarely gives or sends his apology.

When I recently asked for him and another councillor to be spoken too about their lack of engagement, I was ‘Gaslighted’ into it being my fault….!!!!
I was told, it was down to the electorate to decide at elections….
