Farewell & RIP #2

Today we bade farewell to a dear friend of many in Whittlesey – Alison Bacon, who’s charity and committment to several groups in Whittlesey will be very much missed.

Alison only recently sponsored a wonderful 4 seat teak bench in memory of her late husband ‘Michael’ – it has been recently installed at The Platinum Wood along Yarwell Headlands.

Farewell & RIP #1

My apologies, I was away and unwell when Mr J Sneidder passed away.
He, like my father was a German POW who settle in Fenland/Whittlesey after WWII.
Johann was a friend of my late father, and as far as I am aware would have been the last survivor of that group of POW’s. They were based at Thorney Toll POW Camp.

NQS PPG Meeting Earlier This Week….

A good and shortish meeting with only 8 members in attendance (including myself).
What we learnt was that there is more Doctor appointments being created for face-to face meetings.
There are more face-to-face meetings with other clinicians.

Long standing Partner Dr. Dhanushan has departed from NQS.

Yes – I needed to see someone, so on Tuesday I did what everyone else has to do in getting an appointment to see a doctor, queued up at 07:30 (2nd in the Que) and yes I did get an appointment – still not ideal but there we go…..First time I’ve seen a ‘Doctor’ in about 8 years…..

A Day of Action – Wisbech – Invitation Please Come to Whittlesey

More than 80 vehicles were escorted to a check site in Wisbech last week by police who were working to disrupt criminality and promote road safety.

Officers from the Roads and Armed Policing Team, supported by the Road Casualty Reduction Team and Moonshot (Automatic Number Plate Recognition), came together with colleagues from Cambridgeshire Constabulary, as well as the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

The action day saw 83 vehicles being escorted to a designated check site in Wisbech. Officers issued 91 Traffic Offence Reports with only four vehicles leaving the site having committed no offences.

On a Lighter Theme….The Tree The Church Didn’t Want…..

Donated via MP Barclay by the Japanese Consulate, orginally planted in St Marys Church Grounds, didn’t fit with their ethos of not being a native tree.
Moved to Ashline Grove , where my wife Connie, gives it some occasional TLC
What a wonderful blossom it has produced for a little tree…

Who’s To Blame -.

I normally stay away from National Politics and am ‘independently minded’ – however today is yet another very bad day for most of us….I have an article from todays ‘Spectator’ –
Only eight months into this session and all we’ve had is basically bad news after more bad news. Whack the pensioners first, Whack the disabled secondly, today on the JV show, better thing are coming…..really…..
