Flood Warning: North Bank Road Alongside The River Nene 19:01

A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency.

Flood Warning in force: North Bank Road alongside the River Nene, east of Peterborough and west of Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice.
Flooding is expected for: North Bank Road alongside the River Nene to the east of Peterborough and the West of the Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice.

Immediate action required.

Heavy rain has fallen in the Peterborough area which is causing the River levels to rise on the River Nene. During periods of high tide the River Nene will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is likely to lead to localised flooding of the North Bank Road, between Peterborough and Rings End from this evening.
Whilst this Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
We are closely monitoring the situation and this message will be updated by 17:00 on 20/12/2024, or before if the situation changes.

Still Awaiting More Details Re Kings Dyke Ralph Butcher Causeway

May I thank all those who have sent/copied me in letters and e-mails sent to Cambs CC/Highways Director and Mr Moir the CEO.
Most have had replies, not all exactly the same but similar.

We may get more news before the Christmas shut down….
My sources tend to think that the Bridge will be closed whilst repairs/resurfacing takes place and should this be the case, Whittlesey may well become an island once more.

As always we wait and wait…..

Below one of the many e-mails I have received….

Electronic Highway Information Board – A605 West of Whittlesey

For a number of days one the A605 electronic highway information boards West of Whittlesey has gone in to melt down.

On a number of occasions I have reported an intermitted fault and the problem has been resolved but appears to be only a short term fix.

An engineer has visited the site and diagnosed the problem. A part is on order and Cambridgeshire County Council TMC department are chasing to resolve the problem, hopefully before Christmas.

Kind regards,

Dee
Councillor Mrs Dee Laws
