Latest Planning Application @ CCC – Saxon Works Whittlesey

Today the Planning Committee @ Cambridgeshire County Council will be considering the latest application for Saxon works.

The below information has been sent by The Saxongate Residents Group – which I thank them for their work and keeping residents informed.

The Southern Buttress stabilisation works (CCC/24/078/FUL) planning meeting is due today 05th March at 10am.
It will be possible to watch that by video link.

It will be held at Cambridgeshire County Council New Shire Hall Alconbury. Saxongate have sent in detailed comments.

The works are due to take seven years so the correct level of protection for local residents is very important.

Whittlesey Town Council have recommended refusal pending more information (copy below)
We understand that non-conforming waste has been found in the Southern Buttress but don’t know if that will be part of the planning considerations.

We have attached the meeting invite letter and below is the video link.
The public can arrive on the day to watch the meeting in person.

Police Surgery Yesterday 03rd March

It was lovely to meet so many of you, and hear your concerns about a range of issues, including:

🚘Parking

🚗Speeding

👮‍♂️Youth anti-social behaviour (ASB)

Were you unable to make it this time? Keep an eye out on here or ‘Policing Fenland’ on Facebook to hear about any future events.

Alternatively, you can pass on your concerns to us here

(Well you would be very surprised that for the last 15 years or so, the same 3 priorities appear nearly all the time)

A fantastic event 2024 was – put on by a handful of volunteers.
The Extravaganza AGM is being held – and wouldn’t it be great to get just a few
more people to help.
Recently an event locally had to be cancelled because of the lack of help and support.

Just turn up on the evening you will be very welcomed.
Tuesday 11th March at Whittlesey Town Council – Chamber – Queen Street.

Benwick Road Works Update…

The resurfacing of Benwick Road is troublesome to say the least!
hese are my pictures from last Friday. The first picture is the completed section, white-lined and the newly formed pothole over the Christmas period. Since then, that section has been dug up again. The rest of the road from the industrial estate to the bungalow, was re-laid to a good standard. The photos show the digging-up of the first section for the second time and the results of the historical water leaks and efforts to rectify the situation.
Still a long way to go!   – Thanks BB.
