Neighbourhood Police Engagement Meetings

Do you have concerns about anything you would like to raise to your local neighbourhood officers? Or perhaps you would like to hear about the work they are doing in your area?

If you answered yes to the above, then come along to our monthly police surgeries! These events are your chance to meet with local officers and talk to them face-to-face.

If this is something you are interested in, we will be at the Buttercross between 11am and 12pm on:

  • Tuesday, 8 July
  • Monday, 4 August
  • Monday, 1 September

We hope to see you there!

You can also raise any concerns to us via our community survey

It is important to note that the survey is not a method of reporting incidents to us. Crimes can be reported by calling 101 or online.
If a crime is in progress, or someone is in immediate danger, always dial 999.

Buttercross – Market Place – Friday

There will be gathering of people and vehicles on the Market Square and Buttercross in the early evening of Friday 4th July.

This will be the final year students of Sir Harry Smith Community College, with their families, assembling for photographs before proceeding to their annual School Leavers Prom.
It is likely that a number of vehicles, including unusual vehicles, will be present.

This has become an annual tradition which normally passes off without incident. I am just making you aware that it is occurring – it is not an event organised by Whittlesey Town Council.

Feel Like Giving Up

After several complaints and the ‘Social Media Keyboard Warriors’ complaining of the poor state of the flooring of the ‘Buttercross’ I ahain contacted the Manager of Cleaning Team, and within 2 days the area had been cleaned and pressure washed.

I have done this on dozens of occasions.

This time, I was made aware that within an hour, some Low Life had deposited their drinks carton and gooy liquid on the newly cleaned flooring….

What to do….

New 175-Home Development Under Way In Whittlesey

Spades are finally in the ground on a new environmentally friendly 175-home development on the outskirts of a Fenland town.

Violet Meadows is being built by Allison Homes on a 20-acre plot off Drybread Road in Whittlesey and will feature a selection of one-to four-bedroom houses and bungalows.

Each home will be electrically heated, have solar panels on its roof, and electric vehicle charging points as standard.

George Wilkinson, senior planner at Peterborough-based Allison Homes East, said: “We are incredibly proud to have received reserved matters approval for our Violet Meadows development, and are now ready to commence construction work and continue our commitment to Whittlesey.

“This development will provide much needed, sustainable new homes built to the highest standards, and bring a host of environmental and economic benefits to the area.

“We’d like to thank Fenland District Council and Whittlesey Town Council for their positive engagement throughout the outline and reserved matters planning applications, leading to this high-quality extension of Whittlesey.”

Part of the build’s agreement will see the developers increase the site’s biodiversity by 13%, including a new community orchard and three-and-a-half hectares of open space.

A spokesperson for the company also confirmed there would be a minimum of 35 ‘affordable’ homes on the estate.
