Blackbush Drove Closure 02nd – 06th June 2025
25-875 Blackbush Drove Whittlesey Order_I attended both meetings as a member of the public….
At the Finance & Policy meeting, the committee discussed the councils finances and position for the year and forward into this years accounts.
Whittlesey Town Council have a budget and normally keep to it unless something exceptional occurs, they are in a healthy financial position in that they have well over £100,000 in reserves.

Mr Mat Page presenting his application Mr Robert Windle presenting his application.
Grant for The Upcoming Fenland Bus for The Whittlesey Sports and Community
Event and (2) Armed Forces Weekend Directory.
Later in the meeting, all 3 of the above application were granted funding that was requested.
The Whittlesey Christmas Lights were also awarded their request as was the Summer reading Challenge.

At last nights WTC Planning Committe, a short presentation was given by Allison Homes in respect of their application for 175 dwellings along Drybread Road.
Questions were asked about the positioning and type of play equipement being installed and when it would occur in the time frame.
The application is recommended for approval by WTC.
Ref Former Saxon Brickworks – application to increase throughput, – during the public forum ‘Brenda ?’ spoke out about Whittlesey becoming a ‘Toxic Town’.
A relatively short debate took place and WTC decided to recoomend refusal on grounds of
more noise, more, dust, more pollution and more traffic.
The next WTC Panning meeting is on Monday 02nd June.
A very busy agenda, with the Johnson application to consider, remember WTC Planning Committee are consultee only, and in this instance, Cambridgeshire CC are the decision makers.
WTC Planning-Agenda-Monday-12th-May-2025I am proud to have supported residents in the Whittlesey South Ward since 2017 and have been very concerned on how the various agencies are handling complains and issues.
Saxongate is a none political Residents Group – I am not on their committee or the WTC Liaison Group, this allows me to be independently and fair minded on both the applicant(s) and residents when dealing with the planning applications/issues/concerns and complaints.
No other councillor has this track record.

CCC/24/091/VAR – Expansion of IBA(A) site – new information and May 31st Deadline
This is the application by Johnsons Aggregates Recycling Ltd (CCC/24/091/VAR) to significantly increase IBA/IBAA production at Saxon Pit Whittlesey, including bigger stockpiles, almost double the amount of incinerator bottom ash, longer working hours and significantly more HGV movements.
New information has just been added by the applicant in response to questions from councillors and agencies. People now have until 31st May to respond, see CCC letter and a site photo above
You can view, download and comment on the new information here: –
You can view all the documents including objections from WTC and others,.

Saxongate also objected and raised a number of concerns.
We are working hard on a new response and so far, have seen nothing in the new information to change our position.
The new data for example states that ‘’IBA is not considered to be malodorous or offensive, and that they do not consider the scent will cause issues beyond the site boundary during normal operating conditions’’ If you live near the site do you agree?
If not, now is the time to make your voice heard.

I signed this sometime ago, which I believe may be more effective and none political.
Dear Roy Gerstner,
You recently signed the petition “Ban new waste incinerators and revoke permits where building has not begun”:
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/710486
On 3 April, MPs debated waste incinerators in Parliament.
This was a Westminster Hall debate led by Baggy Shanker MP. Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Minister Mary Creagh MP responded on behalf of the Government.
Westminster Hall debates give MPs an opportunity to debate a topic of their choice, and receive a response from the Government.
They are a way to:
They do not involve a vote on a particular action or decision.
