Missing Lady – Keep A Look Out Please

Dear Roy,

We need your help to find a woman who has gone missing from her home in Fenland.

Lorraine Hiam, 68, was last seen getting into a taxi from her home in Church Road, Christchurch, at about 3.30pm on Wednesday (27 November).

She is described as white, 5’ tall, medium build and wears a short blonde wig. She was last seen wearing a long blue coat and carrying a bag with a Christmas design on it which had a tent and sleeping bag in it.

We have been carrying out numerous enquiries however we now have limited information which we can follow up, therefore we are asking for the public’s help to report any possible sightings of Lorraine.

At the moment we have been unable to trace where she got a taxi to, however we believe she may have gone to a bus station and travelled to the Norfolk area, possibly Lowestoft.

Anyone who has seen Lorraine since Wednesday or who has information concerning her whereabouts should call 101 quoting incident 235 of 28 November or use our online webchat service

(Ben Campbell is a young, highly intelligent student at M.I.T. in Boston who strives to succeed. Wanting a scholarship to transfer to Harvard School of Medicine with the desire to become a doctor, Ben learns that he cannot afford the $300,000 for the four to five years of schooling as he comes from a poor, working-class background. But one evening, Ben is introduced by his unorthodox math professor Micky Rosa into a small but secretive club of five students, Jill, Choi, Kianna, and Fisher, who are being trained by Professor Rosa in the skill of card counting at blackjack. Intrigued by the desire to make money, Ben joins his new friends on secret weekend trips to Las Vegas where, using their skills of code talk and hand signals, they have Ben make hundreds of thousands of dollars in winning blackjack at casino after casino. Ben only wants to make enough money for the tuition to Harvard and then back out. But as fellow card counter Jill Taylor predicts, Ben becomes corrupted by greed and his arrogance at winning which lets his feelings get in the way, and it also puts Professor Rosa, as well as the group, on the radar of a brutal casino security enforcer named Cole Williams, who holds a personal grudge of some kind against Rosa which threatens to undo everything the students have learned and earned.)

Darryl Preston Supports Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Police and Crime Commissioner has announced an investment plan which supports the tackling of anti-social behaviour.

Darryl Preston has offered his support to Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week 2024, which ran from November 18-24.

A host of activities took place to signpost victims to support services and raise awareness of how to report problems.

The investment plan will also help to tackle other local issues including road safety and fly-tipping in every district across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Funding for problem-solving co-ordinators has been extended in each of the county’s six Community Safety Partnerships until March 2026.

The commissioner has also reopened his Safer Communities Fund, giving the Community Safety Partnerships the opportunity to bid for vital funding to target prevention efforts on the issues that impact communities the most.
Mr Preston said: “I wholeheartedly support weeks such as Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week. ASB is distressing. It can erode quality of life and will not be tolerated in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Our CSPs are working hard to prevent these issues and have achieved fantastic results.

“The continuation of my funding demonstrates how seriously we treat ASB and my confidence in the community work underway to make our county safer, stronger and more resilient to nuisance behaviour.”

During Anti-social Behaviour Awareness Week, neighbourhood officers visited Littleport Youth and Community Centre to speak to young people.

A community safety stall was also held in Ely Market Place.

In Huntingdon, patrols were out in the Ramsey PSPO area and Cambridgeshire Police officers visited youth sessions in St Neots.

A youth focus event was hosted at the Manor Leisure Skate Park in Fenland to engage with young people.
In Peterborough, the local policing team met with the community to talk about their concerns. Partners also met to discuss a Peterborough City Centre Public Space Protection Order.

Toyota Driver Found

A couple of months ago, the Police asked for any information regarding a Toyoya Pick-Up Truck, |Neighbourhood Watch| reported to the Police at the time that it had been seen in the Whittlesey area and that ‘they’ The Police had the vehicle removed to a compound.
It has since been seen driving around in an anti-social way.

No Big Deal sentence but hopefully the Toyota has been to the crusher.

“Hindsight is a wonderful thing but foresight is better – KD Bridge”

Amazing how ‘blame culture’ has reared its head over the Kings Dyke Bridge.

Nearly everyone now has the ‘opinion’ that it was built in the wrong place – that may be proven, however at the public consultation 90+% went for the current option including myself – yes be honest.

New Flood Warning Issued Wednesday @ 8:16pm

Click on widget on the right to review warnings and alerts.

Flood warning for North Bank Road alongside the River Nene, east of Peterborough and west of Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice

Heavy rain over the past few days is causing the River levels to rise on the River Nene. During periods of high tide, the River Nene will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions.

This is likely to lead to localised flooding of the North Bank Road, between Peterborough and Rings End. Whilst this Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media.

Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. We are closely monitoring the situation and this message will be updated on 28/11/24, or before, if the situation changes.

FDC Planning Today

A robust question and answer session took place with developer Persimmon Homes today at FDC’s planning committee meeting, this can be viewed on FDC’s YouTube Channel.

After some 3 hours, the application for up to 1,200 new housing in March was approved, subject to access to the site – the building of a round-about to take place before any housing construction.

Reserved matters need to be agreed and this is a 10 year project in various stages.
