Neighbourhood Police Team

Day 1 of Neighbourhood Policing Week 🚨

Today the March Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a parking enforcement day of action in Whittlesey.

Illegal parking in the town was raised by the people of Fenland as one of the top issues in the area, and it became a priority for us to tackle over the next few months.
We gave out more than 10 tickets today, moved along drivers who were stopped, or about to park in illegal places, and educated several drivers on the rules of the road, and where they can and can’t park in the town.

The surrounding area of Alderman Jacobs Primary School has been identified as a major hot-spot for illegal parking, especially at drop off/pick up times.
Many vehicles were found parked on single or double yellow lines, or in the lay-by directly outside the entrance to school.

There are signs around the school that state the times where no parking or stopping is allowed, these times are between 8.30am and 9.30am, and 3pm and 4pm, Monday to Friday. Many drivers said they didn’t know about this – so it’s a good job we were there to remind them!
Also, a big thank you to the members of public who stopped and thanked us for our work today. We are trying our best to make the town a safer place to live and visit, and we will continue to do so! But as always, thank you for your support! 😊
