Major Debate Happening @ WTC This Weekend

If you have read my Council Report #1 – you will have have seen that an hour+ was spent on the item ‘ Heritage Centre’ and the debate on how the now £255,000 from
The Combine Peterborough and Cambridge Authority (Growing Fenland Project) may now be spent.

There are two differing arguments being put forward.

Option 1…..Spend ALL the money within the Manor/Manor Field Area.

  • £45k Tennis Courts (although this is to support the current Netball training sessions), improved lighting and fencing.
  • £110k Solar panels for the swimming pool
  • £145k Synthetic pitch
  • £30k to make good the cricket area
  • The youth investment fund operated by Cambridgeshire County Council can be match funded up to £125k from the Heritage Centre, which could effectively release £250k for the Phoenix Youth Provision.

Option 2 Spend the ‘bulk of the money on the next stage for a ‘Relief Road’
Consultants producing a report for the next stage of applying for futher funding with some being spent on the Manor area.

    1. As number 1 above
    2. As number 2 above
    3. Southern Relief Road
    4. Exhibiting some of the Must Farm finds at the library.

      5. Levelling the Market Square to provide a safer area for events.

This week there will be a meeting of the (Whittlesey) Growing Fenland Partnership.
They will decide on what is put forward to the CPCA who will meet end of November.

Naturally being the Town Councillor for the Manor Area, my intersts and those who have lobbied me are swayed to Option 1

I urge anyone who would like to make representation to the Committee – to do so
ASAP – and certainly before Tuesday.

This can be done by sending an e-mail to
Cllr Gary Munns (WTC Representive)[email protected]
