Whittlesey Computer shops have been busy with plenty of enquiries – other than the ‘usual’ Malware/Virus issues there has been no major issues locally.
Many people now realise that keeping their computers updated can and will stop many issues.
Please invest in Anti-Virus software as a minimum investment….

Please take note, Viruses, Malware and all other Nasties are here forever – do not take anything for granted.
Your Bank will never phone/call/e-mail you asking for passwords or to move money.

NHS England Cyber attack press release – all local Health Authorities.
Please see below the latest agreed national messaging regarding the cyber attack.

  • The NHS has continued to treat patients throughout the weekend.
  • We have been working with the organisations providing urgent and emergency care who have been infected to varying degrees.
  • Most have found ways of working around this but seven, including St Barts in London, have asked for extra support.

Core messages for patients attending hospitals and primary care especially GP surgeries

  • If you have a hospital appointment you should still attend unless you are contacted and told not to.
  • NHS England has been offering advice and assistance to GP surgeries.

GP surgeries will be open as usual tomorrow (Monday)
If you have an appointment you should still attend unless contacted by your surgery and told not to.

  • People should continue to use the NHS wisely.  Remember patients can seek help and advice from a range of other sources, such as pharmacies.
  • Bearing in mind the impact of the global cyber attack we would urge people to be patient with staff who may still be dealing with disruption on Monday morning.

Communications handling advice

Please use these messages to proactively communicate with the media, the public and staff. This is the latest public messaging which is being communicated by NHS England and we would encourage you to use this, however, if you need to describe local issues and circumstances please adapt as necessary.
In tailoring your local communications please focus on the channels that will be most appropriate to the people you are trying to reach. You may wish to appeal to your local media, provide information on websites and use social media channels.
Please put people forward for media interviews as you see fit.

Take care not to provide messages that may impact negatively or destabilise neighbouring practices or other services such as A&E.

Could you also please arrange for these messages to be shared with GPs and other primary care staff in your CCG area.
As a number of CCGs do not have communications on call arrangements, we have issued this message to CCGs managers on call to action, but have also copied in communications leads.
