We use the term ‘incident’ to describe something that has happened on the County’s road network which has an impact (of varying degrees) on usual traffic flows. This could include, for example, a Road Traffic Collision, a burst water main or temporary traffic lights for roadworks.

The Fen Edge Walk from Swaffham Bulbeck to Reach

There are a few spaces left on this walk if anyone would like to join us (details below). If you do wish to book a place, please reply to this address. (Note that non Cambs Geological Society members are charged £3.)
Starting at the north east edge of Swaffham Bulbeck, this route takes you along the Fen Edge escarpment formed by the harder bands of Chalk through some very attractive local villages. It approaches Reach by swinging round an extensively quarried hill (capped by Totternhoe Stone), then along the catchwater lode, to enter Reach through its Roman port. The walk ends by catching a view of the quarry itself. There is a bus that can return you to Swaffham Bulbeck just in time for refreshments at the Black Horse (check opening times).

Duration about 3 hours starting at 9:30 am from Swaffham Bulbeck. More details will be sent on booking.
