Objection Letter Ref HGV’s Permit Ramsey Road.

It would appear that there are a few local residents that have no issues with more HGV’s on Ramsey Road/Church Street, however the majority I have spoken too beg to differ.
My objection is on behalf of those concerned residents, if you wish to object this has to be before the 25th August 2021

Resident Swan Found Dead

Found dead today along The Bower, believed to be one of our resident swans, hopefully the signets are large enough now to fend for themselves. It has been reported to the authorities.

The Few Who Have NO Respect For The Rest Of Us

What a ‘wonderful’ Music-On-The-Square’ was yesterday. However, at 7am in the morning our Street Cleaner was greeted (quite often) by the Buttercross covered in vomit, curry and rubbish, he cleaned it all up with some help from a concerned member of the public.

At the end of the MOTS event again the area was quite badly covered in beer cans and other rubbish – this is the way some people say thank you. There was plenty of bin liner and bins around.
Our volunteers again cleared everything up.
Today clean and tidy for how long.

It’s NOT Always The Councils (Councillors) Fault

After some 10 days of never ending complaints and issues about the Manor Field – Manhole Covers, we are nearly there in replacing the ‘missing or damaged’ items.
However – the actual issue is that in most cases – has been caused by Vandalism.

Yesterday I witnessed twice (15:30 and 16:30) the ‘Cones’ covering an iopen manhole being removed by (1) 2 Girls about 14 years old dragging two of the cones into the nearby spinny – Caught red handed by myself, I repectfully asked them to take them back – which they did – I can not take photographs, as these are classified as ‘children’ and I would be the one in trouble. (2) When I returned all three cones had been removed and were some distance away from the open manhole – some 8 young boys were playing about around the open manhole – again not apportioning blame I asked them to return all cones which they did.
8 New Picnic Benches, already one has had glass broken all over it….

What’s wrong with some people…..

ONS News Update

Census unearthed: explore 50 years of change from 1961 – 9 August 2021

Between January and May this year, we released the 1961 Census Small Area Statistics (SAS). The Census Historical Research team has been exploring the data by comparing it with the 2011 Census. This has allowed us to see just how much society has changed in the intervening 50 years. We’re pleased to let you know that the result of this investigation is now available. We’ve included some interactive maps so that you can explore the data for local areas.

Exploring 50 years of change from 1961

The 1961 SAS are the first of our statistical archaeology projects to digitise historic census outputs. Work is currently underway to digitise the tables from the 1921 Census. Following this, we will continue with tables from 1931, 1951 and the remaining 1961 outputs. We hope to bring you updates on this work in the future.

Can you help?

The digitisation of historical records is made possible by the availability of original source material. If you are aware of any physical or scanned census related data and metadata held within your organisation, please get in touch. We are particularly interested in data related to lower levels of geography, such as enumeration district, and any metadata related to maps and boundaries.

For more information about the 1961 SAS or how to access the data, please visit the ONS website.

If you have any questions about this release, please contact: census.historical.research@ons.gov.uk

MOTS 2021 – Whittlesey Market Place

First event allowed this year, looked likely to be a wet and damp music event, by 1pm it had cleared up and remained dry but for a few spots throughout the afternoon, with some sunshine to cheer the 100+ at this years Music On The Square.
All happy and a good time had by all.
The event is organised by Whittlesey Town Council.

The Possible Wisbech Incinerator – What It Could Mean For Whittlesey

All consultations in regards to the ‘Johnsons Aggregates’ planned recycling facility for ‘Bottom End Ash’ has passed and we now await the full planning application at Cambs CC.

Below is what I’ve been sent from The Wisbech Without Incineration Group.
The implications being that if this ‘Mega’ Incinerator gets planning permission the waste will more than likely come here to the ‘Johnsons Recycling Plant’.
How will it arrive – more than likely the A605 through Coates/Eastrea & Whiitlesey.

If you have concerns –
Please contact and lobby your Whittlesey/Fenland & County Councillors….

The window to object to the company MVV closes on August 13.

WISWIN – objection below..

We object in the strongest possible terms to your plan to build the Wisbech mega incinerator because we have at heart the well-being of Fenland and its people. If this incinerator were to go ahead we believe it would be an attack on that well-being and a body blow to the fragile economy of this small market town.

More than 300 lorry movements a day would bring annually half a million tons of waste to be stored then burned in the town from cities within a 100-mile radius including London and Birmingham. We can all expect gridlock on our roads.

We are shocked how blithely you want to site this scheme right in the middle of our southern sector. With its chimney visible for miles it would be just 750m from Fenland’s largest secondary school, a near neighbour of several other schools, an eye clinic, many homes and businesses and an important leisure development site. By burning rubbish, including plastics, its CO2, other greenhouse gases and fine particulates would be particularly harmful to the atmosphere and to people living locally and downwind, into Norfolk and across our farmland.

We don’t believe that any potential benefit from new jobs, many of which will be in specialist roles and not tailored to the local employment market, is strongly outweighed by the threat to the town’s environment and economy from these negative impacts.

This incinerator would be too big, too threatening to health, too much a visual eyesore, too punishing on our road system and traffic-flow and simply too close to the heart of our town. It’s a flawed scheme because it’s in completely the wrong place. Wisbech can’t afford to have you here with this monstrosity and we shouldnot be made a rubbish dump for the nation.
