More HGV’s Planned For Ramsey Road & Church Street

Good morning,

Please see notice attachment in respect of an application – Goods Vehicle Operating Licence for up to 10 Goods Vehicles and 10 Trailers operating out of PE7 2AA which by Google Maps indicate the yard just past the Ramsey Road level crossing.

These licences are generally granted.

However with the concerns of residents on Ramsey Road & Church Street, I would encourage you all to make representation to the address given in the attached article.

My own comments will be :

Ramsey Road and Church Street are already ‘stressed and frequently jammed with HGV’s
The B1040 Ramsey Road and Church Street were never designed for HGV’s
The traffic calming measure by the St Andrews Church does cause issues with pedestrians when HGV’s are passing.
If the operator turns left from the proposed site, there is Ramsey Road level crossing to immediately negotiate with limited visibility.

With regards,

Roy G…..

Beware of Selling Items & Not Being Paid Scam

I was selling my (edited) on Facebook Market Place. Someone messaged me to arrange having a look, I gave them my address and later two males arrived. They looked at it and said they wanted it and asked me for my bank details. I gave them the details and I watched as they appeared to put the details into a mobile phone, they then they sent me a screenshot of the payment having being successful. I checked my bank and it wasn’t there, they told me it could take up to two hours to clear. I rang my bank and they said the same. They left with the high value object and I never received any payment.

ENDS

I am only aware of this one incident at this time, but that does not mean it is not happening elsewhere within the county.

Please adhere to the guidance of buying and selling for each of the online market places, use a credit card, use a recognised trusted online payment like Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and others.

Await payment before handing goods over.

For more advice about buying and selling online visit either the Q&A for each specific market place or ActionFraud.police.uk

WTC Projects Meeting Last Night

Our town is lucky (I believe), to have 85 hanging baskets planted and maintained throughout the summer (Council Tax pays for this), Street Pride (Volunteers) Gardens and Gateway Entrances (Sponsored by local businesses) and Whittlesey In Bloom (Volunteers and sponsors) make our town attractive for all. The occasional lout vandalism but mainly not serious.
The Town’s hanging baskets are nearing the end of their life and a costing will be carried out before next year.

Allotments there are around 26 presently on the waiting list.

This Sunday @ 2pm Music-On-The-Square.

Ongoing Issues/Concerns @ Manor Field.

I have made several requests for a ‘Safety Audit’ to be carried out in respect of the Manhole/Coverscwithin the Manor Field. Today this has escalated in a concerned resident sending email to the FDC Management & a Corporate Director.
Today (again) I have requested a Safety Audit and supplied some more photographs.
WTC Council leader Cllr Mason is also on the case.
