WTC Planning Committee Agenda 01st December

Disclaimer – Whittlesey Town Council are consultees only on planning matters.
Actual decisions are made either at Fenland District or Cambs County Councils.

On the agenda is a planning application (Cambs County Council) for a recycling plant at Saxon Pit by Johnsons Aggregates.
I have made it public previously that the Johnsons application is a very well  and professional application and my and residents concerns are on planning matters only.
I have made many postings and updates on this web-blog in the past.

There has been some significant changes to the previous application after residents and my own represetations on the consultation.

If you have any concerns about this application a urge you to contact your own Councillor prior to this meeting – your Councillor can be found on WTC Website :-

Smells & Odours – Saxon Pit Area…..

Please see investigations into the ‘odour and smell’ issues emanating from the Saxon Pit area. I have been contacted by around 20 people over the last few days.

1/ On contacting the Area Manager for the EA, he informed me that upon being made aware of the odours from the Saxon Pit area, he visited the site on Friday afternoon.

He identified, that the odours were not emanating from the remedial work being carried out at the Saxon pit site.

However he did identify that the smells could be  coming from a company called A W Jenkinson, who process wood and other products within the Saxon Site.
Unfortunately the type of materials AWJ are processing do not come under the remit of the EA.

2/ The EA Manager passed all the information onto the Environmental Services at Fenland District Council.
I have spoken with the Senior Environmental Officer and she has one of her team on site today

Naturally when there are smells or issues coming from the area, the EA is normally the first port of call, however,
I would also encourage you and anyone else to report it to Fenland District Council.

https://www.fenland.gov.uk/report.

Scroll down to 4th from the bottom and fill in the details.

The whole of the Saxon Pit site has a ‘Waste Minerals’ licence.
There are several companies operating under different licences.

Keep reporting please.

With regards,
Roy G…
Cllr Roy Gerstner
