Residents Have Meeting Re-Saxon Works

Residents held their own meeting today at The Falcon, very well attended by 60 or so from mainly the Snoots Road area. Chaired by Mr Tony Ellingford who kept the momentum moving, I attended as an invited guest.
Residents raised the ongoing concerns of noise and smell
allegedly coming from the site. The historic non-conforming waste issues and the impending Johnsons Aggregates Planning Application.
The group formed a sub-committee and asked for support to print and deliver a pamphlet informing a wider area of their concerns.

FDC Planning Meeting Live Today…..The Travesty Again

I have lost count on the number of times, Whittlesey Town Council Planning Committee, have made decisions on planning grounds (as consultees) only for Fenland District Council Planning Committee to overturn what we local Councillors have decided.
Today our FDC (Whittlesey) Councillors on the committee declared their interests and took no part in debate or voting which is the correct process.
On one application (The Conservative Club), the rest of the Committee had their hands tied in that there have been similar applications to build in Car Parks, that said, no mention what-so-ever that WTC had recommended refusal.
No mention of the safety of the new residents or public sharing the access with vehicles and no weight to the protected Mud Wall.

The 2nd application Pings Yard, took all of 10 minutes a basic debate – again WTC had recommended refusal.
Makes the public wonder why we even bother.

Warning As Vans Targeted By Thieves Across The County

We have issued a warning and appeal for information following 26 instances where tools have been stolen from vans across Cambridgeshire.

The incidents have all taken place within the last two weeks since 21 February, mostly in Peterborough but spanning the whole county – March, Whittlesey, Somersham, Needingworth, St Ives, Buckden, Warboys, Grafham, Ely, Trumpington, Cambridge, Cottenham, Histon and Grantchester.

We understand the impact these thefts have on people’s livelihoods when tools they need to do their job are stolen, which is why we are working hard to identify those responsible.

Where possible, it is advised tools are not left in vehicles which are unoccupied or consider using a lockable cabinet within your van to store tools.

We’re asking our communities to report any suspicious activity to us, including any CCTV footage which captures potential offenders.

Advice on how to best protect your vehicle from thieves can be found on our website here, including specific advice around tool theft from vans.

Information can be passed to us online either through our reporting form or via our webchat function.

Those without internet access should call 101. Always dial 999 if a crime is in action.

Kind regards,
