Another Fantastic Group of Volunteers
Last night myself and Cllr Kay Mayor attended the Scaldgate Club AGM at St Andrews Parish Hall.
The Scaldgate Club helps and supports adults with learning difficulties with Whittlesey and meet every Thursday evening.
As with many voluntary organisations it has been a tough time going through the 2 years of the COVID pandemic.
Up on their feet again and hopefully supported by several orgaisations within our town.

Electric Vehicle Charging Points – WTC
As part of the renovations when the Town Council purchased the Old Police Station, a set of 2 EV points were installed along with a Solar Aray on the roof.
Unfortunately within a relatively short period they have become unreliable.
One point – a customers charging lead has melted within the socket (unsure what casued this) and the second point is forever tripping out.
It has become too costly having a qualified electrician reset the device and therefor a decision has been taken to have them both switched off for the time being.
A quotation has been received to replace them and this will be considered by the Finance and Policy Committee at their next meeting.
As I reported a few weeks ago – there has been some abuse thrown at the Town Clerk because some people were leaving their vehicles connected for 12+ hours.

Manor Field
May I thank everyone who has offered support in respect of the recent events mainly but not exclusive to our Whittlesey Manor Field.
I was invited this morning to speak about the issues on Fenland Youth Radio.
Myself and host Robert Windle covered a lot of ground between 9 and 10.
One of the idea’s he has suggested is ‘Friends of The Manor’ group.
I will be looking into this in conjuction with our Town Council and other partners.
Just to make it clear – This will NOT be a vigilante group.
The Whittlesey Manor Field is a fantastic ‘asset’ to town and should be celebrated as such.
We must not be put off by a small group of mindless individuals.
A thanks also to the Fenland Cleansing team for clearing up all the debis and rubbish associated with last weeks vandalism.

Commemorative benches to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Fenland
Let us all hope that this wonderful bench does not suffer any anti-social problems.
It is not so long ago, (2010) some locals set fire to St Marys Church in March.
As noted Whittlesey will be getting one at The Garden of Rest.

Manor Field Picnic Bench – Arson
I am very pleased with the contact(s) and feedback that has been received since last Thursdays event at the Manor Field.
Most sympathetic feedback on what is happening regarding ongoing anti-social behaviour in our town at present.
I am not accusing anyone or group or individual as I/we do not at this time have any evidence.
I am still waiting for our Neighbourhood Police Team to contact me.
Wonderful that there is now a JustGiving campaign to try and raise enough funding to replace the damaged one.
Early days as I and those partners (StreetPride/WTC/FDC) need to seek a forward plan.
I am very thankful and grateful to all of you that have contacted me, as you can imagine I am unable to reply and answer everyones e-mails.
Watch this space and as news and developments come forward I will update.
My thanks also to The Cambs Times© for running the article to highlight the issues.
