Appeal After Fatal Fail To Stop Collision

Dear Roy,

Can you help? We’re appealing for witnesses after a man has died following a fail to stop collision in Peterborough last night.

The man in his 30s was walking along a footpath in Paston Ridings at just after 8.30pm yesterday (20 October) when he fell into the road.

A car, believed to be a Renault Megane, then turned right out of Hallfields Lane, onto Paston Ridings, before colliding with the man. The driver failed to stop at the scene.

Officers and paramedics attended and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

DI Garry Webb, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts (BCH) Road Policing Unit, said: “This is an incredibly sad incident where a man in his 30s has lost his life and we are doing all we can to investigate, but we need the public’s help.

“We are appealing for witnesses, dash cam footage and anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a dark Renault Megane to get in touch.”

Anyone who has any information is urged to contact us via our web chat service, quoting incident 428 of 20 September, or call us on 101 if you do not have internet access. Always dial 999 in an emergency.

Farewell A Real Friend…

My neighbour for more than 25 years passed away, 25th September.
I recently posted a small celebration for his 99th birthday. I truely admired and respected John, he was never demanding and asked for very little.

RIP

Eye ! What’s Going On Here…..

Many years ago, I was ‘told’ by a Senior Manager at FDC that our Buttercross was pressure washed and cleaned on a weekly basis…..I believe this was being somewhat economical with the facts…..knowing that the Street Cleaners do not have access to said equipment…
They rely on a ‘Bucket and Mop’ and rarely unless it is done overnight has the team seen at the site.
So as my photo shows…. 3 men with hand(s) in pocket and 1 man working.
(This is what makes Britain the envy of the world)?
So knowing that there is an ‘event’ about to happen with some ‘dignitary or two’ in attendance – a double ration of pressure washing has happened…..

Scam Alert From Age UK

Scam regarding Household Support Fund….Administered by Cambs CC, I am part of this group (not Age UK) but have the same access to funding, so if someone is concerned about dealing with Age UK – they are more than welcome to contact me, which a number have already done so.

One of CAPASP’s partners, Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, has been in touch to warn about an attempted scam relating to the Household Support Fund (HSF) which is in place to support older people this autumn.
Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are working in partnership with the County Council to administer this fund.

One of its service users was phoned by a man who didn’t give his name but said he was from Age UK. The call was from a withheld number. He told her that she could have £200 that same day if she gave her bank card details immediately. Fortunately, the service user didn’t give her card details and asked the caller to phone her son.
Unsurprisingly the son never received a call.

Please know that:

The Household Support Fund will not be paid on the same day.

Age UK Cambs & P’boro staff will not ask for the long bank card details or the security number on the card.

Their staff will always give their full name and contact details, and the advice is to contact the organisation using a number that is trusted to verify who the caller is.

They are happy to talk to family members or carers.

While they do ask for bank account details to make the payment, it will ONLY be the account number, sort code and name which appears on the account. This information allows a deposit to be made into the account but cannot give access to make a withdrawal of money from the account.

If you have experienced a phone scam, contact your bank as soon as possible and contact Action Fraud by calling 0300 123 2040 or online Action Fraud
