Could The End of Some of The Noise and Dust Be Imminent
Jenkinsons Wood Processing @ The Saxon Pit Works, have been operating without formal planning permission for over 12 months. They have recently applied to FDC for ‘Retrospective Planning’ at the site. Many residents in/around Snoots Road/Peterborough Road have been complaining about ‘Smells and Noise’ – although not proven they were responsible, most residents thought so.
Today I’ve heard that they have been given notice to leave. It is underst00d the lease expired in December and a new lease has not been signed.
Jenkinsons have not been very good communicators and the Saxongate Residents Group have tried to engage with them to no avail.

Is Your Community The Friendliest In The UK?

To celebrate HM The King’s Coronation, we’re looking for communities going above and beyond to support those around them. Maybe you hold an annual Big Lunch, regular meet-ups, or pull together to help each other out and look after your local area.
From cul-de-sacs to blocks of flats, villages to cities, if your community deserves a great big ‘thank you’, we want to hear from you!
The Eden Project team will work with the winning community to install a pollinator and people friendly garden. The prize will also include a Coronation Big Lunch hamper and £2,500 to support your next community project. Plus, three runners up will also receive a hamper (including a £100 Iceland voucher) and £1,000 towards a community project.
Sound good? To enter, all you need to do is tell us a little about your community and why you deserve to be crowned! The competition runs from 1-30 March and winners will be announced in April.

Update 17:08 UTC – Flood Warning In Effect See Side Panel
Heavy rain and snow has fallen in the Peterborough area which is causing the River levels to rise on the River Nene. During periods of high tide the River Nene will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is likely to lead to localised flooding of the North Bank Road, between Peterborough and Rings End. Whilst this Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. We are closely monitoring the situation.

Queen’s Green Canopy Initiative Extended
Following the death of Her Majesty the Queen, The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative has been extended to the end of March 2023.
The extension of the special project will give those interested in planting a tree the chance to record one in memoriam of Her Majesty.
The QGC initiative was created to mark the Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and has seen thousands of residents planting trees since it was launched in October 2021.
The QGC has created a network of individual trees, avenues, copses and whole woodlands in honour of The Queen’ service and every tree planted brings benefits to communities, wildlife and the climate.
Find the nearest tree to you on the QGC map, and
learn more about planting a tree on the QGC website

Lead Cllrs Roy Gerstner and Eamonn Dorling
