Saxongate Update

Kings Dyke Nature Reserve has now shut due to a land slip. Forterra is funding the repair work, which may take a year. The attached letter gives all the details.

Like Saxon Pit this is a former brickworks. Given that works are ongoing at Saxon Pit
(not owned by Forterra) to shore up the Eastern Buttress, that works will then be needed there to shore up the Southern Buttress and now we have a slippage at Kings Dyke,
it makes you question the quality of restoration work carried out by the original owners when the sites were handed over (before Forterra’s time).
Going forward, residents need to take a much greater interest in matters like this.

Thankfully Forterra is acting as a good neighbour and has shared its plans to remedy the issue at Kings Dyke. Once completed the town should see the nature reserve fully restored and free for the local community to enjoy again in perpetuity.

Stolen Moped Discovered By StreetPrider – Police Recover

On Saturday a Street Pride volunteer reported an abandoned moped in the Station Road play area. I reported it. The police recovered the moped as it had been reported stolen. Another good result.

Police Commissioner Urges Residents To Have Their Say

Police and Crime Commissioner Darryl Preston has today (15 July) launched a short online survey for residents to tell him their views on crime and disorder are as he produces a new plan for the county.

The plan sets policing and crime priorities for the next four years, so residents are being urged to have their say, and share the online link with family and friends.

Feedback will help form the content of the new plan.

The survey runs until 5pm on Friday, 16 August.

You can visit https://www.cambridgeshire-pcc.gov.uk, telephone the commissioner’s office on 0300 333 3456 or email cambs-pcc@cambs.police.uk to provide your views.

I attended the Cabinet meeting (as an observer) and the full meeting of the council today.
The agenda’s for both were published earlier on this web-blog.

The Cabinet meeting was strait forward and sailed through the agenda’d items – good news being Fenlands has a fairly healthy financial position. (35 Minutes)
Full meeting (55 Minutes)
