WTC Planning Meeting Tonight #2

The other main item on the Agenda, being the stabilisation and buttressing of the southern face at Saxon Pit.

During the public forum, I spoke about the for-ever ongoing complaints, issues and concerns with the present stabilisation program and other associated work being carried out by different operators.
I highlighted the lack of monitors and the suffering of residents – mainly within the Snoots Road area, but covering parts of the A605 as well.
I highlighted the very poor amenity, residents have to put up with almost daily.

When the item came for debate, the 3 councillors and Cllr Dee Laws acting in consultation, all highlight the same issue(s) as myself. They also made comment about the lack of monitoring onsite and stated there should be 24/7 real time accessible monitoring of dust and noise.

Whittlesey Town Council are consultee’s only.
Cllr Dee Laws Portfolio Holder at FDC for Planning.

WTC Planning Meeting Tonight #1

6 members of the public attended this evenings planning meeting.

I attended as a member of the public and spoke on two items.
Here in part (1) – A presentation was given by Mr Justin Carter for the changed of use of the ex ‘Elms’ nursing home to a 16 bed hotel, attending also was Mr Gary Munns a director of the company developing the site.
Only a few questions regarding parking arrangements from the 3 members of the planning committee who attended this evenings meeting.

During the public forum, I spoke on behalf of several residents who had contacted me in support of this application. It will bring a much needed facility, rooms and leisure to our town.

During the debate on the agenda item, Whittlesey Town Council approved the application.
It goes now to Fenland District Council who will make the final decision.

(l-r) Cllr Barry Wainwright, Gary Munns and Justin Carter.

Councillors Are On The Case

Cllr Doring send the follow pictures, concerning the recently installed speed reductions
at the new entrance to Sir Harry Smiths – (see my earlier posting).
It appears to be another Puddle/Splash issue between the speed bumps…..

Cllr Boden has replied……

Many thanks, Eamonn.

They say a picture paints a thousand words – well, your two photos tell a clear story.  I’ve taken the libertry of forwarding them to the relevant department at Alconbury with a request for remedial action – it looks as if the speed cushions have created the pooling effect which we can now expect to see every time it rains.

I’ll advise you when I receive a response.
Kind regards,
Chris

Ralph Butcher Bridge – Update Cllr Boden

The County Council is continuing to maintain the temporary westbound lane closure for road safety reasons, while tests take place to fully understand the carriageway issue, why the cracks have appeared and come up with a way forward.
Clearly this means that road users will continue to experience delay in this location.

Due to the nature of the monitoring and testing we are unable, at this point, to provide any programme for when the lane can be reopened but will continue to keep the public updated.
