Reform UK – Fenland’s Inaugural Meeting
Reporting as I’ve been sent – from a Whittlesey resident who attended the meeting…..
Pleasantly surprised by the meeting
Chris who stood as MP chaired it. He works in life sciences and is a project manager Extremely well attended 60 plus Chap from Whittlesey elected as joint deputy chair lives down Bellman’s.
Lot of ex forces
They have enough candidates for local elections I would say over prescribed as they can’t get them all vetted
Good meeting very positive and upbeat.
(RG Note) At this time – looking likey that there will be many more candidates standing for election come next time – supposed to be County elections May this year – we will wait in anticipation….

Elderly Man Safeguarded
It was just before 7am on Sunday when an elderly man was spotted on CCTV going for a walk – but this was no ordinary walk.
He was reported missing from his care home in Peterborough and checks revealed he had dementia, which had been declining in recent months.
Officers searched the area, nearby shops and supermarkets, the A&E department at Peterborough City Hospital and former addresses he was known to visit due to his symptoms – but could find no trace of him.
Thank you to the member of the public who found the man in his 70s wandering around the Newborough and Peakirk areas along back roads.
The passerby thought something wasn’t quite right, so took him home to the care home. The man admitted that he knew he’d gone for a walk, but then got lost.

We’d like to thank them for their kindness and compassion, and taking time out of their day to make sure the man was safe and well.
Further safeguarding measures have been put in place and we have also highlighted the Herbert Protocol to the man’s family. Have you heard of it? It’s a scheme we support that can help find people with dementia if they go missing.
It encourages family and friends to keep a document that will help officers in the event a loved one goes missing by collating key pieces of information, such as a physical description, familiar places, health details and an up-to-date photo. Please feel free to spread the word about the important scheme.

I Repeat – Why I Don’t Take Part In Social Media – MisInformation Again.
The Station Road Recreation Ground has caused a lot of upset and coverage – Initially I was sent a ‘screenshot’ of the original post which contained inaccuracies.
I responded by e-mail a very detailed history of what ‘we’ Councillors had been sent begining in September 2024. All facts I posted on this site.
Yesterday another ‘accusation’ comes my way in a misinformed quote….
Now I am unsure how Mr Steven Eyre got to read his information – It won’t have been from this site.
What I have said was …..
‘On one occasion of vandalism – parents stood by and witnessed it happening.?’
I’ll correct this slightly as the witness is a NHW coordinator and I have no question as to its validity –
It was the parents of the children carrying out the vandalism witnessed it happening.
Mr Stroud you are more than welcome to contact me – by the way I am ‘an active bystander’ and if I witnessed this happening I (I) would engage with those responsible.
That is my choice (I count myself as disabled) and would not condone those who would rather not it is their choice.
So ‘a’ slight mis-quote can alter a story quite dramatically and after the flurry of now 40+ emails I can do without this every time something blows up on social media –
What’s today’s problem I wonder……???
I reiterate – I will flight this piece of land being sold off – if and when it comes up, and would hope my fellow WTC Councillors fully support.

Record Number of E-Mails Received
After Matt Page’s postings on Social Media (FB) about the ‘selling off’ –
Station Road Recreation Ground……I received well over 20 e-mails from concerned residents about this story.
I’ll say it again as previously posted, the area in question has been identified as a ‘possible’ asset that maybe disposed off by Fenland District Council along with others within the Fenland area.
Naturally and I can only speak for myself – I am totally against this and any other area being sold off for housing….plenty of arguments but whether anyone takes notice or listens is another story.
The Station Road Recreation Ground is in the Lattersey Ward (Cllr Jason Mockett) and backs onto Station Road – (Cllr Gerstner & Singh).
It is designated a Green Open Space and as such has an element of protection under both Fenland District Council (2014) (and Emerging) + Whittlesey Town Councils Local Neighbourhood Plan(s).
I sure other Councillors will work together in putting together as robust an argument as we can – when and if this progresses any further.
