Proposed 50 mph Speed Limit – Long Gravel Road….

The road known locally as ‘Long Gravel’ :-

For your consideration, the Council is proposing to implement a permanent 50mph speed limit on the A605 from the terminus of the 40mph speed limit in Coates, north-eastwards to its junction with the A141.

The limit has been proposed in the interest of improving road safety along the route, reducing the likelihood and severity of future collisions.

Note, for administrative purposes the Order revokes and consolidates the effects of the 40mph and 50mph speed limit Orders currently in effect on the A141 between the A47 in Guyhirn and Meadowlands Retail Park in March. Additionally, the Order revokes a 30mph speed limit Order relating to Wisbech Road (B1099) in March as there is a system of street lighting in place, which provides a default restricted road arrangement.

Further details can be found at: Public Consultation where the consultation documents (draft Order, public notice and statement of reasons) can be downloaded via the drop-down menu in the top left.
The press notice is due to be advertised next Wednesday (16/09/2026) with the consultation period ending on 07/10/2026.
