Disappointed Meeting – Wisbech Incinerator – Medworth

I and another Whittlesey resident attended the WisWIN (Wisbech without Incineration) meeting last night, I’ll try and be ‘kind’ – the meeting was attended by the management team of Medworth (Incinerator  Builder/Operator) with Mr Paul Carey taking and answering questions.
Around 50 attendees, Mr Carey read out 5 e-mail questions (Most had been answered at previous meetings) – Then open question time.

1/ A complete unorganised group, threw (again) previously asked and answered questions, to which Mr. Carey did his best to address.
2/ There was no structure to some questions, only some making long statements about their objections to the Incinerator being built.
3/ The meeting was starting to become chaotic with several people talking and speaking at the same time.

My co-attendee walked out after an hour, I remained for another hour, by which time I was getting tied and fed up.
One question raised was there any councillors attending, to which I raised my hand – ensuring that I was a Whittlesey/Fenland Councillor.
No other hands raised.

I have attended several of the Medworth Incinerator meetings, because there is some potential in many years to come for ‘Waste’ from the site will have to be exported from Wisbech – Where No one knows yet – but remember Whittlesey already has a site that Recycles Incinerator Bottom End Ash.

Disappointed that the WISwin Group could not have organised a much better structured campaign to get their message over.
Medworth have ALL the permissions and planning in place – the best way is to ensure that ALL the conditions are complied with.

I support many others in that I believe the Wisbech Incinerator is in the wrong place.
