We received a call yesterday about a member of the public being assaulted by aggressive street sellers in the city centre after he declined being sold aftershave.
Two men were arrested and have been given conditional cautions for pedalling without a licence. They have also been issued with Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) which excludes them from the city centre for three months.
In total, we have made four arrests and issued four CPWs in relation to this issue.
Neighbourhood officers seized bags of perfume before locating a van in St Peters Road car park which was linked to them, and more suspected counterfeit perfume were found.
Scams such as these tend to become more regular around the festive season. If you are approached by one of these sellers, please decline and move away.
It is important to stay vigilant, and if they become aggressive or you feel intimidated, report it to us as soon as you can!
