Listen in to real hoax calls we receive from children across Cambridgeshire.
This is a message to parents and carers ahead of the school summer holidays. As per our previous eCops message, when children break up from school for summer,
we often see an increase in hoax calls from children who are bored and unsupervised.
In order to show the type of hoax / prank calls our 999 operators receive from young people, we have shared just a few real recordings of prank calls into Cambridgeshire Police.
We ask that you watch this video to better understand why it is so important that we educate the young people in our lives about hoax calling, why it is never acceptable, and the impact that it can have on others.
Please remind your children that we treat hoax calls very seriously as they can cost lives and are a huge waste of valuable resources. Not only that, but it is an offence to make a malicious or hoax call to the emergency services. Those prosecuted could face a hefty fine or up to six months in prison.
Help us to keep your children safe this summer.
