Improving our travel and tourism statistics: September 2026 update

Today, we have published updated and corrected annual and quarterly 2024 overseas travel and tourism estimates. These have been released alongside an update to our Improving our travel and tourism statistics article series.

Our latest 2024 data show that:
·       overseas residents made an estimated 42.6 million visits to the UK in 2024 and spent an estimated £31.6 billion
·       UK residents made an estimated 94.6 million visits abroad in 2024 and spent an estimated £78.7 billion

These estimates are published as official statistics in development while we continue to develop and quality assure our new methods. Users should refer to the advice provided in the releases before using these estimates. They are subject to future change as we introduce further improvements to these methods.
