Parcel Delivery scams
Online shopping has increased and therefore the use of couriers and mail carriers in order to deliver packages has also increased.
This has given an opportunity for scammers to send emails and texts pretending to be from well known courier companies asking for money as the postage price has not been paid, or for duty on items inside. You pay the duty or shortfall and no parcel arrives.
Most mail and courier companies will not collect the parcel if their is an outstanding amount on the postage cost. And for items with duty, you will probably, receive an invoice through the post asking you to pay, before they even try to deliver. In this case it will have the items details on the invoice and you will know you ordered it.
So our advice is, even if you are expecting a parcel and receive a message to say the postage is wrong, ignore it, at the very worst the parcel will be returned to sender, and you will email the company asking where your parcel is and they will resend, but you will probably find that despite ignoring the message, you receive your parcel any way, and there will not be a shortfall on the postage.
