Stolen Motorcycle

Our rural officers stopped this motorbike in Kings Delph in Whittlesey yesterday as it had been reported as stolen from Hampton Hargate last month.

While the rider was able to prove it hadn’t been stolen, they failed to provide evidence that they were insured for business use when using the motorbike for deliveries.

The bike was seized and the driver reported for the offence.

It is important to ensure that you have the correct insurance for the intended use of the vehicle. You can read more about driving without insurance and its penalties here.

Where Will The Money Come From !!!!!

Today I attended The Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority Members Information Day, by ‘newish’ elected Mayor (Ex Whittlesey) (Ex Peterborough MP) Paul Bristow and his team.

There was only myself and FDC Cllr and Portfolio Holder Chris Seaton from Fenland.

Just as a ‘throw away remark’ Mayor Bristow commented ‘The Whittlesey Relief Road – Where is the Money Coming From’.

Just about sums it up…sorry…

Who Has An Answer…..Thistles?

I have asked ‘experts/farmers’ how to deal with the serious Thistle issues at the Manor Field, they are all in agreement, the only way to deal with is by fencing off and treating the area with Herbicides, also known as weed killers, which are substances used to control or eliminate unwanted plants, often called weeds.
They work by disrupting the growth or development of these plants, ultimately leading to their death or suppression.
Herbicides can be selective, targeting specific weed species while leaving desired plants unharmed, or non-selective, killing a wide range of plant life.

Members of the public complained when herbicides were used so FDC stopped using them.
So if you know the answer, I and many would like to hear it please…..

Taken today – half the area has been mowed down, but are the roots and seeds still in the ground waiting to re-germainate.

Thistles/Thistles and more more Thistles…. (Thistle wine anyone)

Another Good Day Had By All….

I attended the Bus Event most of the day, and met up with many, there were queuing all day for the ‘Free’ rides to Ramsey/Thorney and Turves.
The weather held up without any rain, by 2pm the numbers thinned out.
Overall a good event for Whittlesey and congratulations to Matt Page and his Team.

Good News For Some – Not So Good For Others

Most of us have had many complaints on the ‘increase’ in illegal parking, which we have all lobbied our Neighbourhood Police Team.
Some people will not be ‘Happy’

Below received from Cllr Dee Laws…..
Just received an e-mail from March Neighbourhood Police Team.

At present, two of the three priorities focus on illegal parking in Whittlesey as it happens.

For this quarter the current priorities are:

1)      Illegal parking in our Whittlesey Primary Schools

2)      Illegal Parking on St Mary’s Street, Whittlesey

3)      ASB in Southwell Close in March.

PCSO in Whittlesey today (Saturday) and visited roads/streets we are receiving numerous complaints from residents reporting the same vehicles continually parking on double yellow lines, frequently creating an obstruction by irresponsible parking and dangerously parking within 10m either side and opposite  ‘T’ junctions.

Think word is getting out the Police have changed from their approach from Education to Enforcement.

To date

24 x parking tickets issued, St Mary’s Street

07 x parking tickets issued, Primary Schools

02 x parking tickets issued, London Street – today

Dan visited St. Mary’s Street and Windmill Street and at the time no vehicles were parked on double yellow lines.

I’ve sent a thank you response for the update and hope March Neighbourhood Police Team keep the pressure on – Whittlesey has zero tolerance for illegal & irresponsible parking.

Kind regards,

Dee

Councillor Mrs Dee Laws
