Inaugural Meeting ‘Friends of The QEII Jubilee Wood’

As most readers are aware, Whittlesey Town Council celebrated the Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee, by supporting the Green Canopy which the late Queen was patron.
Myself and Cllr Eamonn Dorling are the present project leaders of this initiative.

On Friday we held a meeting at Peel House which was attended by 15 supporters of this ‘new freinds group’. Ms Pauline Edge will lead this group.

L4G Expo – 12th April 2024 10am – 3pm

In 2013, Link4Growth members in the Peterborough area, organised an Expo so that fellow members could showcase their products or services to one another. The event was also open to the public and as such many exhibitors were not only able to raise their profile but also made invaluable new contacts.

As a result of recent discussions amongst some of the more long standing members of Link4Growth, the idea of a 2024 Expo was tabled. With fond memories of the day it was concluded that it would be an excellent idea to repeat the concept.

Only on this occasion, we are doubling the exhibitor capacity, and welcoming a new generation of members, along with those that participated the first time around.

Our Venue

In 2013, we hired out a space big enough to accommodate 25 or so stands which was perfect at the time. We have a larger local membership in 2024 so we’d love to fill a room which has the capacity to seat up to 200 people. Current Link4Growth and Link4Business members are being offered the opportunity to request a stand on a first come, first served basis.

A Snapshot Of Everyday Life in ‘Britain’s Pompei’

A new exhibition – Introducing Must Farm, a Bronze Age Settlement – will open at Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery later this month.

The exhibition opens on April 27, following the eagerly anticipated release of a new publication by the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, which tells the remarkable story of the Must Farm pile-dwelling settlement in Whittlesey.

The exhibition, funded by both Historic England and Peterborough Museum, focuses on an introduction to the story of this significant Bronze Age site, dubbed “Britain’s Pompei”, which gives an extraordinary insight into everyday life almost 3,000 years ago.

The Must Farm settlement is a truly fascinating discovery, with the site only being occupied for less than a year before it was destroyed by a catastrophic fire.

Peterborough Museum is open Tuesday – Saturday, 10am – 4pm.
