Kings Dyke Crossing Information #2

We are pleased to report that the Kings Dyke project has now passed through E&E committee and GPC last month and we now have a signed contract with Jones Brothers as the contractor.

Jones Brothers are already working on their start-up preparations and will be pursuing a rapid start to the mainline works onsite. The precise start date is probably still a little uncertain, but early July is the goal – much sooner than the Dec 2020 start date we went public with last year. There will also be some Jones Brothers presence on site starting next week for some preparatory works, such as trial holes followed by establishment of the compound.

Now that the contractor is on board we hope to see progress ramping up fairly quickly and we want to make sure WTC are kept up to speed with things. Please can you let me know if Whittlesey Town Council are still holding their monthly meetings so we can ensure our updates will be issued to you in advance of these.
CCC’s press release is attached which you may want to use on your website or notice board as you feel appropriate.

Kind regards
Suzie

Orchard Street Sink Hole … !!!! – Do NOT go there at present…..

Despite notices on ‘social media’ – various webs and on here… many are trying to navigate their way around the area.

From a correspondent at 08:30 – I saw 4 (one after another) wriggle round the road closed signs at Morton Fork then do a 3 point turn outside Chippy Sue’s and back to the Morton Fork cross road. I will try with social media but if they cannot read it is probably of little help. I had a word with the workmen that were on site at 8:20.

Sink Hole Appears In Whittlesey….

This afternoon the resident at 27 Orchard Street contacted the Clerk WTC advising of a sink hole outside the property.

This has been reported to Highways and the Police have been out.  It is in the centre of the road and has been coned off ready for works to start tomorrow.  Hopefully it will not get any bigger overnight.  The situation is not ideal.  A busy road – Orchard Street – Delph.

Confusion About Fly-tipping – Updated

You can report Fly-tipping direct to FDC by :-

https://www.fenland.gov.uk/flytipping

It would appear that some on ‘social media’ are complaining about access to Cambs CC Recycling Centres…. I understand that trade people with vans are not being allowed in at present – whether they have a permit or not…I did an article about this last week when the Recycling Centres re-opened.
Fly-tipping is ‘illegal’ those who are caught do face large fines.

Fly-tipping is an eye-sore.
Fly-tipping damages the eco-systems and enviroment.
Fly-tipping damages water courses.

In 2016/17 more than one million incidences of fly-tipping were dealt with by councils in England. The estimated cost of clearing up this waste was over £58 million.

Just maybe our ‘friend’ on social media would be enlightened as to how much other peoples rubbish and litter the Whittlesey Street Pride group have cleared over 12 years.

Fenland District Council have a very good ‘Rapid Response’ team who generally clear up Fly-tipping within 48 hours – and yes it costs us the rate payer.

Maybe the ‘friend’ would like to make a big difference by joining the group, when the restrictions are lifted….Do something useful and positive.
Trade waste will eventually be accepted once the Operators can manage it.
Remember I am not Litter-picking at present it is not allowed – it will wait – it will still be there when we are allowed to get it….
